About the role
GAIN is seeking to recruit a Project Manager, Fortification and School Feeding to lead the implementation of the Grain to Gains Wholegrain Project and the integration of Fortified Whole Grains (FWGs) into Uganda’s National School Feeding Program. The Project Manager will coordinate efforts to enhance millers’ technical capacity, improve access to affordable fortification systems and quality inputs, strengthen farmer–miller linkages, and collaborate with consortium partners to ensure adequate production of quality maize grain.
This role will be offered on a 2-year fixed term contract, subject to availability of funding and will be based in Kampala, Uganda. This advert closes on 26th June 2026. Key Responsibilities include.
- Oversee the profiling and selection of millers based on capacity, market performance, and gender/youth inclusion criteria.
- Strengthen market systems by building structured procurement linkages between millers and institutional buyers, enhancing farmer–miller relationships through contract farming and warehouse receipt systems, and partnering with financial institutions to develop tailored credit solutions.
- Provide millers with technical assistance, capacity building, mentorship, access to affordable fortification systems and quality premix, and compliance with UNBS standards and certification requirements.
- Guide policy review and advocacy efforts, including joint review of the food fortification policy, identification of opportunities to integrate Fortified Wholegrains (FWGs), development of wholegrain standards, and promotion of youth- and women-friendly business regulations.
- Conduct and oversee research, case studies, and evidence generation to assess business viability, market demand, competitiveness, pricing, supply chain efficiency, and the added value of fortification in wholegrain processing.
About you
The ideal candidate should have strong technical expertise in food processing and fortification, private sector engagement, market linkage facilitation, and policy advocacy. You should possess a solid understanding of the maize value chain and how the key players such as farmers, institutional buyers, millers, pre-mix facilities can be integrated within Uganda’s National School Feeding Program.
The successful candidate will be an accomplished project manager with demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, monitoring, and reporting on donor-funded programmes, including budget management, risk management, procurement oversight, and compliance with organizational and donor requirements.
About our offer
The starting gross salary on offer for this role is from UGX 94,217,556 – UGX 107,742,240 gross per annum, depending on experience. Staff Benefits Summary
