Objective of the Assignment
Tiko seeks to recruit qualified and experienced data collectors to support fieldwork for the SGBV survivor feedback studies (client exit interview surveys). The data collectors will conduct sensitive and ethical data collection using both qualitative and quantitative tools, including in-depth interviews (IDIs), focus group discussions (FGDs), and structured surveys.
Scope of Work
Selected data collectors will:
- Participate in a mandatory training on SGBV, research ethics, safeguarding, and study tools
- Collect quantitative data using digital tools ( SurveyCTO)
- Conduct qualitative interviews and FGDs with survivors and key stakeholders
- Ensure informed consent is obtained, and confidentiality and survivor safety are maintained
- Accurately record responses, transcribe interviews, and submit clean data in a timely manner
- Work collaboratively with the Lead researcher at Tiko and escalate any protection or referral concerns immediately
- Follow Tiko’s protocols on safeguarding, referral pathways, and do-no-harm principles
Duration and Location
- Duration: Up to 2 weeks (inclusive of training, and data collection) every quarter
- Location: Selected divisions within Kampala district (specific divisions to be confirmed)
Required Qualifications and Competencies
- Minimum diploma in social sciences, gender studies, psychology, public health, or a related field
- At least 2 years of experience in data collection, preferably on SGBV or other sensitive topics
- Strong experience with both qualitative and quantitative research methods
- Familiarity with ethical and safeguarding principles in research with vulnerable groups
- Proficiency in English and Luganda
- Comfortable working with survivors of violence in a compassionate, respectful, and non-judgmental manner
- Female candidates and those from the study regions are strongly encouraged to apply
Reporting and Supervision
Data collectors will report to the Research Field and will be overseen by Tiko’s MEL team.
Code of Conduct and Safeguarding
All data collectors must adhere to Tiko’s code of conduct, and safeguarding policies. Any breach of ethical standards or misconduct will lead to immediate termination.
