Background

The Regional Coordinator (RC) will serve as the regional execution lead responsible for coordinating and overseeing the rollout of the EUDR-compliant coffee traceability programme across assigned regions. The RC will ensure effective onboarding, training, and sustained use of the SYMOS traceability platform by coffee value chain actors, while maintaining strong coordination with District Local Governments (DLGs), exporters, cooperatives, traders, and other stakeholders. This role requires close collaboration with field teams, partners, government officials, and the central ASIGMA programme management team to ensure timely, compliant, and verifiable delivery of programme outcomes.

Regional coordination and implementation role focused on translating national EUDR requirements into effective district-level execution, stakeholder engagement, training oversight, data quality assurance, and compliance monitoring.

Responsibilities

Regional Programme Coordination and Execution:

  • Coordinate and manage implementation of the EUDR traceability rollout across assigned districts in line with the approved workplan.
  • Translate national deployment plans into district-level schedules, routes, and activity calendars.
  • Track progress against regional targets and timelines and ensure timely delivery of agreed outputs.

Stakeholder Engagement and Government Coordination:

  • Serve as the primary liaison with District Local Governments (CAO, District Agricultural Officers) and other local authorities.
  • Engage exporters, cooperatives, traders, and processors to facilitate participation and sustained adoption of traceability practices.
  • Support authorised entry meetings, sensitisation sessions, and validation visits in collaboration with MAAIF and DLGs.

Training and Capacity Building Oversight:

  • Supervise Field Trainers in delivering practical training on EUDR requirements and use of the SYMOS platform.
  • Ensure training attendance, assessments, and follow-up support are properly documented.

Traceability and Data Quality Assurance:

  • Monitor regional use of the traceability system to ensure completeness, accuracy, and consistency of data.
  • Conduct spot checks and validation visits to verify alignment between digital records and physical operations.
  • Identify recurring errors or compliance risks and implement corrective actions.

Partner Coordination and Supervision:

  • Coordinate and supervise partner inputs within the region in line with approved scope and KPIs.
  • Validate partner outputs and escalate underperformance where required.

Reporting, and Risk Management:

  • Provide structured regional inputs to the weekly activity report, including completed activities, pending tasks, and blockers.
  • Track regional KPIs and support evidence-based reporting for audits, reviews, and payment milestones.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, ICT for Development, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in agricultural value chain programmes, regulatory compliance, or large-scale project coordination.
  • Experience working with government institutions and private sector actors, preferably in export-oriented value chains.
  • Strong coordination, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Good communication and reporting skills in English; local language proficiency is an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within assigned regions.
  • Execution-Oriented: Strong ability to translate plans into disciplined field delivery.
  • Regulatory Awareness: Understands compliance, auditability, and risk management.
  • Leadership: Able to supervise and motivate field teams and partners.
