Senior Financial Compliance Manager at Mota Engil
The Senior Financial Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring the company’s financial practices comply with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), local tax legislation, and internal audit requirements. The role leads the implementation of technical accounting policies, tax compliance, internal and external audits, and internal control systems. The incumbent will support the Finance Department by providing expert advice on regulatory compliance and financial governance, ensuring operational efficiency and audit readiness across the company.
Key Roles and Responsibilities,
- Ensure compliance with IFRS and local financial reporting standards.
• Interpret and implement new IFRS updates across the organization.
• Maintain up-to-date internal accounting policies and procedures.
• Lead and coordinate internal and external audit processes, including audit readiness, schedules, and issue resolution.
• Oversee statutory tax obligations, including VAT, PAYE, WHT, and corporate tax, ensuring timely and accurate filings.
• Act as the main liaison with the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) and external tax consultants.
• Monitor regulatory changes and support the business with proactive tax planning.
• Develop and maintain robust internal financial control systems.
• Conduct financial compliance risk assessments and drive governance improvements.
• Supervise and mentor technical staff in tax, compliance, and accounting functions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed financial compliance in all processes.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA, ACCA, or an equivalent professional qualification is mandatory.
• Minimum of seven (07) years’ experience in audit, tax, or financial reporting roles.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, audit requirements, and Ugandan tax regulations.
• Experience working in or with audit firms is an added advantage.
• Experience with ERP systems, particularly SAP, is desirable.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work under pressure with high ethical standards and attention to detail.
• Experience in the construction or infrastructure sector is an added advantage.
