Job Purpose

The Site Nurse will provide professional occupational health and nursing services at the worksite by delivering first aid, basic medical care, health education, and emergency response to employees. The Site Nurse will support the prevention of workplace injuries and illnesses, promote employee health and wellbeing, maintain accurate medical records, and contribute to the implementation of occupational health and safety programs in compliance with relevant legal and organizational requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide first aid and emergency care to employees who sustain injuries or become ill at the workplace.
  • Assess and manage occupational injuries and illnesses, including determining the appropriate level of medical attention required.
  • Conduct health assessments and monitor employees for work-related health concerns.
  • Maintain accurate medical records of injuries, illnesses, treatments, referrals, and other occupational health information.
  • Provide health education and sensitization on topics such as hygiene, nutrition, communicable diseases, and occupational health.
  • Support workplace injury prevention by identifying health-related hazards and advising management on appropriate control measures.
  • Coordinate medical referrals and follow-ups for employees requiring treatment at external health facilities.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness and response, including supporting drills and responding to workplace medical emergencies.
  • Monitor occupational health trends and prepare periodic reports on workplace injuries, illnesses, first-aid cases, and other health indicators.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of a Certificate in Nursing from a recognized institution.
  • A minimum of 2+ years’ experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment.

Key Requirements:

  • Ability to provide immediate first aid and respond effectively to workplace medical emergencies.
  • Understanding of workplace injuries, occupational diseases, health surveillance, and workplace health risks.
  • Ability to assess and manage medical emergencies and coordinate appropriate referrals.
  • Ability to maintain confidential and accurate medical records, injury registers, treatment records, and health reports.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, supervisors, management, and external healthcare providers.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and electronic health/record-keeping systems.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality, demonstrate ethical conduct, and handle sensitive employee health information appropriately.
  • Good understanding of occupational health and safety requirements, particularly in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • A female Ugandan candidate is preferred for this role and should be of age between 24 years to 28 years.
