Job Summary
The Vehicle Workshop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and operational readiness of the company’s Land Rover Defender (TDI 300) safari fleet. The role ensures all Defenders are mechanically reliable, safe, and fully prepared for demanding off-road and remote safari conditions. The supervisor leads the workshop team, implements preventative maintenance programs, and minimizes in-field breakdowns to support uninterrupted safari operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily workshop operations.
- Plan and execute preventative maintenance schedules.
- Allocate work to mechanics and ensure efficient turnaround of safari vehicles.
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and drivetrain issues common to Defenders.
- Inspect and approve all completed work to ensure vehicles meet safari safety and reliability standards.
- Ensure Vehicles are properly safari-equipped, including checks on suspension, brakes, steering, cooling, tires, and recovery equipment.
- Maintain detailed service records, defect reports, and modification histories for each vehicle.
- Manage inventory of spare parts and consumables essential for field operations.
- Enforce workshop safety procedures and environmental standards.
- Liaise with operations managers, guides, and drivers to plan servicing and respond to breakdowns.
- Provide technical support and emergency assistance for vehicles in the field when required.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Diploma or trade certification in Automotive or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Proven hands-on experience maintaining and repairing Land Rover Defenders.
- Prior experience in a supervisory or senior mechanic role.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, manual transmissions, axles, suspension, and electrical systems.
- Valid driver’s license

- Excellent diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage workloads in a fast-paced environment
- Practical problem-solving skills
- Strong Communication Skills
