Action Aid is an international Development Agency working in over 50 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean. Action Aid Uganda’s mission is to achieve social Justice, gender equality, and poverty eradication by working with people living in extreme poverty and exclusion, their communities, people’s organizations, activists, social movements and their supporters.

The Global Platforms (GPs) are a global network of youth training hubs for empowerment and activism. The key mandate of GPs is to equip youth with the confidence, knowledge and skills to be active citizens and to engage with decision makers.

The first GPs started in Tanzania and Denmark in 2009 and as of present has expanded to nine training centers in Kenya, Jordan, Palestine, Myanmar, El Salvador, Ghana, Denmark, Bangladesh and Zambia. The platforms foundation is experiential and participatory learning techniques, which have evolved through inspiration from great educational thinkers like Paulo Frere and John Dewey. The GPs are an extension of Action Aid's strong experience providing formal and non-formal training using participatory methods.

Action Aid international Uganda therefore seeks to recruit suitably qualified, self-driven, result oriented, dynamic and competent persons to till the position.

Job role:
The role exists to provide overall strategic leadership towards the achievement ot the Global Platform set targets. Additionally the role will manage the staff team of the Platform and support in facilitating and conducting innovative trainings and capacity development for Action Aid, Action Aid Partners, other NGOs, youth groups and individuals to lead social, political and economic changes as appropriate; Networking and Partnership Development; Knowledge Management and Communications; Financial and Resource Management; and Child Protection and feminist leadership Responsibilities
