Established in 1988, the MRC/ UVRI and LSHTM Uganda Research Unit is an internationally recognized Center of excellencefor research on HIV infection and related diseases, contributing knowledge on the evolving epidemic, the evaluation ofinnovative health care options, treatment and prevention, and the development of health policy and practice in Africa andworldwide. The Unit's head offices are located at the Uganda Virus Research institute- Entebbe Campus, and the mainresearch activities in Masaka, Kalungu, Kampala and Wakiso districts, including the peri-urban areas of Entebbe.

The Unit is now seeking enthusiastic and experienced individuals to fill the following position

Role Position PhD post Doc Scientist- Molecular Virology (01 position)

Reporting to: Head of Programme - PGPI

Some Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute to thedevelopment of novel HIV Infectious Molecular Cloneviruses derived from acutely infected patient samples.
• Contribute to the analysis of Pacific BiosciencesNext Generation Sequencing data.
• Perform viruscharacterization assays, including Replicative Capacityassays.
• Characterize immune functions associatedwith virus replication and virulence.
• Assist in thetraining and supervision of technical staff and graduatestudents and acquire technical training when required.
