On behalf of Our client in the FMCG Sector, we are looking for a competent and experiencedProduction Planning Manager to be based in Kampala
Reports To: Head of Operations
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda.
Job Summary: The Production Planning Manager is responsible for overseeing the production planning and scheduling processes to ensure optimal manufacturing efficiency, inventory control, and timely delivery of products in a fast-paced environment.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement production plans and schedules based on sales forecasts, inventory levels, and customer demands to maximize resource utilization and meet delivery timelines.
- Monitor production processes, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency and reduce waste in line with lean manufacturing principles.
- Collaborate with procurement, logistics, and quality assurance teams to ensure raw material availability, manage inventory levels, and prevent stockouts or overstocking.
- Analyze production data and KPIs (e.g., OEE, throughput, cycle time) to generate reports and recommend improvements for cost reduction and process optimization.
- Lead demand forecasting and capacity planning activities, adjusting plans in response to market fluctuations, seasonal demands, or supply chain disruptions common in FMCG.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, including food safety (e.g., HACCP, ISO), environmental regulations, and company policies.
- Manage a team of planners and coordinators, providing training, performance evaluations, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Coordinate with R&D and marketing teams for new product introductions, ensuring seamless integration into production schedules.
- Utilize ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) to track production metrics and facilitate real-time decision-making.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, such as Kaizen or Six Sigma, to enhance production planning accuracy and overall operational performance.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
- A Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., APICS CPIM, CSCP) is an advantage.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in production planning within the FMCG sector, with at least 3 years in a managerial position.
- Proven track record in high-volume manufacturing environments, handling perishable goods or fast-turnover products.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, advanced forecasting software).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- In-depth knowledge of production planning tools, inventory management techniques, and FMCG-specific challenges like shelf-life management.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with high attention to detail.
- Leadership abilities to motivate teams and drive change management.
- Familiarity with sustainability practices in manufacturing, such as waste reduction and energy efficiency.
