Senior Driver (m/f/d) – National position

(WASH); Livelihood & Social Programs and Disaster Risk Reduction.
Malteser International has been implementing projects in Uganda for over two decades focussing mainly on health and nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene, livelihood and environment.
For its work in Nakivale, Uganda Malteser International is looking for an experienced person to fill the position of Senior Driver (m/f/d) – National position
The Senior Driver is responsible for the implementation of transport and fleet management in order to support program implementation. .

Responsibilities:
1. Ensures provision of reliable and secure driving services
• Ensure the respect of the ugandan traffic law while driving MI vehicles
• Follow the Line Manager’s planning and instructions
• Carry out office out-door messenger related duties
• Keep all personal documents as well as those of the vehicle with you and check that they are valid (driving license, insurance paper)
• Fill in the logbook every day according to MI procedures
• Respect MI security rules
2. Ensure the maintenance of the vehicle with respect to MI vehicle management
• Carry out daily checks before starting up the vehicle (oil level; water level; pressure of the tires etc.)
• Wash the car when needed and upon request from line manager
• Make sure that the security toolbox and first aid kit are complete and on board
• Inform the line manager when service is necessary
• Solve minor technical problems
• Inform the logistics department of any major repairs to be carried out
• Record all the maintenance done in the logbook of each vehicle
3. Ensure the respect of the departure and arrival time of your movement
• Inspect and prepare the vehicle the day before departure so as to be on time
• Prepare additional equipment to be brought along according to the needs (fuel, stickers, flags, tools, medical kit)
• Guarantee the good loading and unloading of the car and goods in an appropriate way
• Know the area map, especially MI staff houses, INGOs offices and relevant partners’ offices
• Ensure that non-MI staff sign a waiver of liability form
4. Supporting the logistics officer
• Contribute to the compilation of accurate monthly fuel usage reports for all vehicles
• Ensuring monthly vehicle service and maintenance reports are submitted on time
• Oversees fuel consumption purchase and tracking
5. Safety and Security
• Working closely with the Security Focal Person (SFP) to proactively ensure staff safety
• Assists the SFP in collecting, updating and communicating information regarding the security situation in the project location
• Assists the SFP in reporting security incidents affecting MI personnel, offices and assets for the project location
6. General
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned

Qualifications and experience:
• The Senior Driver should possess a diploma in Logistics/Procurement/ fleet management /Business Administration or related field
• 3 years of experience as a driver with good understanding of INGO procedures
• Experience as a logistician is an added advantage
• Strong organizational skills
• Computer literate with hands on MS Office programs, especially in MS Excel
• A demonstrated ability to multi-task and process information into action as to not delay program activities
• Valid Driver’s License and ability to drive
• Fluency in English (written and spoken)
• Knowledge of local and beneficiary languages (Runyankitara, Swahili, French) will be considered an advantage
• Preferably a resident of South West
 Conditions:
• Starting date: As soon as possible
• Duty Station: Nakivale, Uganda
• Duration of contract: 12 months
