On behalf of our client FINANCIAL INTELLIGENCE AUTHORITY, we are looking for a competent, skilled, and experienced Senior Public Relations/Communications Officer to work in Uganda.

JOB TITTLE: Senior Public Relations/Communications Officer
SALARY SCALE: FIA 5.
REPORTS TO : EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
SUPERVISES : NONE

JOB PURPOSE
Responsible for enhancing public awareness, public relations and to foster good corporate image of the Authority by formulating public relations and strategic initiatives that promote the corporate image of the FIA.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop and implement communications plans and strategies.
2. Review and update the Authority’s communication strategy.
3. Develop and implement publicity strategies and campaigns to ensure visibility of the Authority.
4. Ensure implementation and sustainability of the Authority’s corporate social responsibility initiatives.
5. Communicate the AML/CFT programs of the Authority to the public,
6. Prepare and supervise the production of publicity brochures, handouts, direct mail leaflets, promotional videos, photographs, films and multimedia programmes.
7. Attend to inquiries from the general public and any other sources.
8. Management of all media activities related to FIA.
9. Prepare articles and inhouse magazines to be published occasionally.
10. Prepare and supervise the production of media content, brochures, handouts, direct mail leaflets, promotional videos, photographs, films and multimedia programmes.
11. Any other responsibility that may be assigned from time to time.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
Qualifications:

1. Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Mass communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Social Sciences, Economics, Business Administration or Law and any other related course.
2. A Master’s degree in a relevant field is an added advantage.
3. An accredited qualification in AML or related to financial crime control is an added advantage.

Experience
1. A minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in government or reputable organization,

1. Knowledge of Anti Money Laundering Act, 2013, Anti-Terrorism Act, the respective regulations
2. Excellent relationship management and communication skills, necessary for public relations

JOB DETAILS:

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

1. Support development of a country-level communications strategy, detailing outreach among key stakeholders to dispel perceived risks of investing in Uganda and to attract capital-seeking firms, investors, and local intermediaries such as transaction advisory and business development service providers to work with SIA
2. Identify opportunities to promote and publicize SIA's achievements and partnership prospects
3. Take lead in design and illustration of SIA's communication and branding materials (including reports, posters, factsheets, and infographics)
4. Take lead in capturing, captioning and filing Activity photographs for use in various communication and knowledge products.
5. Contribute to production of success stories, reports, and deliverables, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to USAID
6. Ensure compliance with the project branding implementation plan and marketing plan in alignment with USAID regulations
7. Incorporate GESI achievements, MEL accomplishments, and Activity data into reporting where applicable

Required Skills and Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or marketing
2. Minimum 5 years' experience in communications, media, and stakeholder engagement
3. English required with excellent writing and quantitative skills. Local language proficiency preferred.
4. Excellent written and visual presentation skills; at minimum excellent Word processing (Microsoft Word), spreadsheet (Microsoft Excel), and e-mail (Microsoft Outlook) skills.
5. Proven ability to use graphics design software to illustrate Activity performance and successes.
6. Proven ability to work professionally, constructively, and collaboratively as part of team, meet deadlines, communicate effectively, and deal with diverse partners (including high-level government officials, entrepreneurs, and international donors) in a challenging environment.
7. Ability to manage daily activities and achieve expected results with or without direct oversight and effectively function in a complex, challenging environment.
