Description

Bayimba Cultural Foundation is seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to support the finance team in performing program accounting duties. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting and maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing support to the Senior Finance Officer.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Financial Documentation:

  • Collect, review, and maintain accurate financial documents, including invoices, receipts, and payment records.
  • Ensure that all financial transactions are properly documented and recorded.

2. Transaction Processing:

  • Assist in processing financial transactions, including payments, receipts, and journal entries.
  • Ensure that all transactions are accurately recorded and compliant with financial regulations.

3. Financial Reporting:

  • Assist the Chief Finance Officer in preparing financial reports, including program accounts and donor reports.
  • Ensure that financial reports are accurate, complete, and submitted on time.

4. Financial Record-Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including ledgers, journals, and other financial documents.
  • Ensure that financial records are properly filed and easily accessible.

5. Compliance and Audit Support:

  • Ensure that financial transactions and records comply with financial regulations and donor requirements.
  • Provide support to the Chief Finance Officer during audits and financial reviews.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in accounting or a related field.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in accounting or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience working with non-profit organizations or similar entities.
  • Familiarity with donor reporting and compliance requirements.
  • ACCA / CPA level 1 or 2
