Job Purpose

The Enrolled Nurse/Midwife will provide high-quality, empathetic primary healthcare and maternal services within a community clinic setting. The successful candidate will ensure excellent patient triage, offer safe reproductive and antenatal care, and maintain immaculate clinical standards. Due to the emergency responsive nature of community healthcare, the candidate must reside within or nearby Masanafu for ease of access.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Patient Care & Nursing Services

  • Perform routine patient triage, including measuring and recording vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and weight).
  • Administer prescribed medications, injections, and intravenous fluids accurately and safely.
  • Dress wounds, manage minor injuries, and provide first-aid care.
  • Monitor patient progress, document clinical notes accurately, and report any significant changes to the medical officer.

2. Maternal & Midwifery Services

  • Provide antenatal and postnatal counseling, monitoring, and care to mothers.
  • Conduct safe, clean deliveries according to Ministry of Health standards where required.
  • Offer family planning education, counseling, and administration of contraceptive methods.
  • Track infant growth and manage routine immunization schedules.

3. Clinic Operations & Hygiene

  • Ensure all medical equipment, instruments, and delivery kits are properly sterilized and ready for use.
  • Maintain strict infection control standards and a clean clinical environment.
  • Manage medical waste disposal safely and in accordance with health regulations.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate clinic registries, drug logs, and patient records.

Position Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Must hold a valid Certificate in Nursing or Midwifery from a recognized institution.
  • Professional Registration: Registration or valid enrollment with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (UNMC) is an asset.
  • Gender: Female (as explicitly required by the clinic’s targeted reproductive health services and operational needs).
  • Location/Proximity: Strictly residing within Kigobe, Masanafu, or immediately adjacent neighborhoods (within walking distance or a very short commute).

Compensation & Work Schedule

  • Monthly Base Salary: UGX 300,000
  • Daily Allowance: UGX 5,000 per day worked
  • Work Schedule: 6 days a week, with 1 designated day off weekly.
  • Must hold a valid Certificate in Nursing or Midwifery from a recognized institution.
  • Must be female.
  • Must live within walking distance or a short, easy commute from Kigobe-Masanafu.
