Job Summary

The Credit Monitoring and Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing credit portfolio monitoring and ensuring institutional compliance with internal credit policies, regulatory requirements, and risk management frameworks. The role provides strategic and operational oversight of credit performance, early warning indicators, compliance reporting, and corrective action tracking. The Manager plays a critical role in safeguarding asset quality, strengthening governance, and supporting sound credit decision-making.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Credit Monitoring

  • Oversee continuous monitoring of the credit portfolio to ensure compliance with approved credit terms, covenants, and risk appetite.
  • Develop and maintain credit monitoring frameworks, tools, and dashboards to track portfolio performance, arrears, restructurings, and early warning signals.
  • Analyze credit performance trends and provide timely insights to management to support proactive risk mitigation.
  • Coordinate post-disbursement monitoring, including review of borrower compliance with financial and non-financial covenants.
  • Support stress testing, portfolio reviews, and sector exposure analysis.

Compliance and Risk Oversight

  • Ensure adherence to internal credit policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Lead periodic credit compliance reviews and contribute to institutional risk assessments.
  • Maintain and update credit-related compliance registers, monitoring checklists, and documentation.
  • Track implementation and closure of internal audit, regulatory, and risk committee recommendations related to credit and compliance.
  • Support regulatory reporting and supervisory engagements related to credit risk and compliance.

Reporting and Governance

  • Prepare high-quality credit monitoring and compliance reports for Management, Risk Committees, and the Board.
  • Provide data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making and policy enhancement.
  • Promote a strong risk-aware and compliance-oriented culture across credit and business teams.
  • Provide guidance and capacity-building support to staff on credit monitoring and compliance best practices.

Experience, Skills, and Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5–7 years’ experience in credit risk management, credit monitoring, compliance, or financial risk oversight within a financial institution.

Technical and Professional Skills

  • Strong understanding of credit risk management, portfolio monitoring, and financial analysis.
  • Sound knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements within the financial sector.
  • Advanced data analysis skills using Excel, Power BI, or similar analytical tools.
  • Experience developing dashboards, monitoring tools, and management reports.
  • Ability to interpret financial statements and assess borrower performance.
