Firm Relationships:

Position reports To: Chief Operating Officer

Direct Reports: None

Key Relationship: The Position works closely with the Chief Operating Officer, Consultants and any other designated official(s) to ensure the growth of the Firm and its Clients.

Job Purpose: The Trainee – Finance & Strategy will support the delivery of high-quality consulting services to clients across various sectors. The role involves performing financial and strategic analyses, preparing client deliverables, and contributing to business development efforts. This is a training position designed to provide the successful candidate with practical consulting skills, exposure to client engagements, and a pathway to a full Consultant role.

Key responsibility Area:

Client Engagement Support:

  • Assist in gathering and analyzing client data (financial statements, operational metrics, market trends).
  • Support the development of tailored financial models, forecasts, and business strategies.
  • Participate in client meetings, take notes, and prepare meeting summaries.

Project Delivery:

  • Contribute to the preparation of proposals, presentations, and reports.
  • Ensure timely delivery of assigned tasks in line with project plans.
  • Collaborate with senior consultants and team members to deliver client solutions.

Internal Learning & Development:

  • Participate in structured training sessions and on-the-job learning.
  • Apply feedback from supervisors to improve work quality and professional skills.
  • Develop proficiency in financial modelling, strategic planning frameworks, and consulting methodologies.

Personal Specifications:

Education & Specifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Business Administration, or a related field (First-class or Second Upper preferred).
  • A professional qualification – partial or full – in CPA, ACCA or related certification is an added advantage.

Essential Knowledge & Experience:

1–2 years of relevant work experience in finance, accounting, strategy, business analysis, or a related field (internships and graduate trainee programs count).

Attributes:

  • Ability to interpret and analyze financial information.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with both staff and clients with a professional approach.
  • Excellent numeracy skills
  • Computer literate and able to use Microsoft Office.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work under own initiative.
  • Excellent time management.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in teams.
