PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Provide counselling services to the students and members of staff

Key functions

  1. Participate in developing and implementing counselling strategies to staff and students in the University.
  2. Conduct individual and group counselling sessions to advise and assist students for academic development.
  3. Assist to compile a record of useful information on Guidance and Counselling and make it available to students and staff.
  4. Provide long-term individual support and further social relations between students.
  5. Participate in organizing educational seminars for staff and students in the field of Guidance and Counselling.
  6. Consult with staff and the general student population on their counselling needs.
  7. Participate in the general set up and implementation of the counselling and guidance Centre activities.
  8. Perform any other duties assigned by the Dean of Students.

Person Specification

  1. Master’s degree in Counselling and Guidance or Counselling Psychology.
  2. A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized Institution.
  3. Three (3) years of working experience in counselling relevant area in an institution.
  4. Have good interpersonal relations.
  5. Have skills in handling students’ problems and welfare.
  6. Mature person with positive attitude towards people.
  7. Possess high supervision and coordination skills.
  8. Confidentiality, team player and ability to empathize
