The Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC) is an indigenous medical organization that was established in 1991 as a limited liability not-for-profit Joint-venture between the Uganda Ministry of Health (MoH), Ministry of Defense and Makerere University Medical School (now Makerere University College of Health Sciences). JCRC is located on plot 101 Lubowa Hill Off Entebbe Road P.O. Box 10005 Kampala. Joint Clinical Research Centre seeks to recruit a dynamic, motivated and innovative candidate for the following position; Job Title: Compliance & Risk Officer Reports to: Head of Internal Audit and Risk management Site: JCRC- Lubowa.
Job Purpose;
To support the implementation of JCRC’s enterprise risk management framework by assisting in identifying, analyzing, monitoring, and reporting organizational risks to ensure operational integrity and compliance. Specific duties and responsibilities;
• Assist in the maintenance and updating of the institutional risk register.
• Support departments in identifying operational, financial, clinical, research, laboratory, projects, and compliance risks.
• Monitor risk mitigation actions and escalate emerging risk exposures.
• Track key risk indicators (KRIs) and ensure timely reporting.
• Participate in project and grant risk assessments.
• Support awareness creation on risk culture and staff training initiatives.
• Maintain the risk incident log and assist in risk investigation and root cause analysis.
• Contribute to audit and compliance follow-ups where risk overlaps are identified.
• Evaluate the implementation of internal controls to ensure they are cost-effective, reliable, and responsive to risk.
• Updating the risk register.
• Any other task assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and skills required;
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, management, or law.
• Completed at least level 3 CPA/ACCA course or enrolled at Law Development centre.
• 2–3 years of experience in risk management, internal audit, or compliance.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Knowledge of enterprise risk management (ERM) frameworks.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with risk software is a plus
