Job Summary
The Document Verification Agent is responsible for verifying the authenticity and validity of passenger travel documents to ensure compliance with immigration regulations, airline policies, and international aviation standards. The role supports the prevention of inadmissible passengers, reduces the airline's exposure to regulatory penalties, and contributes to efficient passenger processing while maintaining high standards of customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify passengers' travel documents, including passports, visas, residence permits, and other entry requirements before departure.
- Confirm the authenticity and validity of travel documents using available verification systems and reference tools.
- Detect and identify fraudulent, altered, expired, or otherwise invalid travel documents.
- Escalate suspicious, fraudulent, or non-compliant documentation to the Supervisor and relevant authorities without delay.
- Ensure compliance with immigration regulations, airline procedures, and destination country entry requirements.
- Verify destination-specific travel requirements, including health documentation, vaccination certificates, transit requirements, and other regulatory restrictions.
- Support investigations involving fraudulent or improper travel documentation in collaboration with airport authorities, immigration officials, and internal security teams.
- Prepare accurate reports and maintain documentation relating to document verification activities and identified irregularities.
- Coordinate with airport authorities, ground handling agents, and internal departments to facilitate compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Assist in managing passengers affected by travel document issues while maintaining professionalism and excellent customer service.
- Provide support for VIP, special assistance, and other designated passengers when required.
- Keep abreast of changes in immigration regulations, visa requirements, health protocols, and international travel restrictions affecting Uganda Airlines' network.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisor in line with the objectives of the department.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma in Aviation Management, Travel & Tourism, Business Administration, International Relations, or a related field.
- Experience in document verification, passenger handling, airline operations, or airport ground operations.
- Experience with an airline, ground handling agent (GHA), immigration services, or border control is an added advantage.
- Training in airline passenger handling, immigration documentation, or airport operations is desirable.
- Knowledge of international travel documentation requirements and immigration regulations.
