Background

King Ceasor University (KCU) is a Chartered private university committed to academic excellence, innovation, research and quality assurance in higher education. Through its School of Medicine, Health and Life Sciences, the University seeks to recruit qualified and motivated professionals to strengthen teaching, research, innovation and community engagement in Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Responsibilities

The Lecturer – Pharmacy shall report to the Head of Department and shall:

  • Deliver high-quality undergraduate teaching in Pharmacy and related disciplines.
  • Conduct research and contribute to scholarly publications.
  • Supervise undergraduate research projects and support postgraduate teaching and supervision.
  • Participate in curriculum development, quality assurance and programme accreditation activities.
  • Promote innovation, professional practice and community engagement.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of Department, Dean or University Management.

Purpose of the Job

To contribute to excellence in pharmacy education through effective teaching, research, innovation and professional service; support curriculum implementation and student learning; promote pharmaceutical research and community engagement; and contribute to the University's mission of producing competent, ethical and globally competitive pharmacists.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate shall:

  • Teach undergraduate courses in Pharmacy in accordance with the approved curriculum.
  • Prepare lecture materials, laboratory practicals, tutorials, assessments and examinations.
  • Supervise undergraduate research projects and participate in postgraduate teaching where applicable.
  • Conduct research and publish in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
  • Participate in curriculum review, programme development and quality assurance activities.
  • Support students during laboratory practicals, clinical placements and experiential learning.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, committees and other academic activities.
  • Establish and maintain collaborations with hospitals, community pharmacies, pharmaceutical industries and regulatory bodies to enhance student learning and research.
  • Participate in consultancy, continuing professional development programmes and community outreach initiatives.
  • Maintain professional registration and uphold the ethical standards of the pharmacy profession.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the University Management.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A Master's degree in Pharmacy, Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacognosy or another relevant pharmacy discipline from a recognised institution.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy (BPharm), Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or an equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Registration and a valid practising licence with the Pharmacy Council of Uganda or an equivalent recognised professional regulatory authority.
  • Evidence of university teaching, research or professional pharmacy practice.
  • Evidence of scholarly publications or active research will be an added advantage.
  • Applicants pursuing or holding a PhD in a relevant discipline will have an added advantage.

Remuneration

An attractive remuneration package shall be offered in accordance with King Ceasor University's Terms and Conditions of Service.

Tenure

The Lecturer – Pharmacy shall hold office in accordance with the University's Terms and Conditions of Service and subject to satisfactory performance.
