Position Overview
The Unit Managers will manage, grow, and drive the performance of unit workforces to hit set General Business insurance targets. Stationed in Mbarara, Gulu, Mbale, or Jinja, the Unit Manager will supervise Sales Agents and coordinate non-life insurance product distribution across the designated unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Agent Workforce Management: Recruit, train, and retain a minimum of 15 active Sales Agents within the unit.
- Sales & Performance Targets: Ensure overall achievement of Unit sales targets, including Monthly Premium Income (MPI), Case Count, Annual Premium Income (API), and Persistence rates.
- Agent Training: Deliver continuous training to Sales Agents regarding non-life products, underwriting guidelines, and operational procedures.
- Market Strategy & Promotions: Conduct local market analysis, propose product improvements to the Agency Manager, and execute promotional activities to boost brand awareness.
- Regulatory Compliance: Recommend disciplinary action to the Disciplinary Board for Sales Agents contravening Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) regulations or the CIC Code of Ethics.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field.
- Professional Certifications: Certificate of Proficiency in Insurance (COP). Valid IRA Agent License.
- Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a supervisory role within the insurance sector.
- Competencies: Strong supervisory, negotiation, training, communication, and computer skills, with a clear understanding of general insurance operations.
