BRAC Uganda Bank Ltd is hiring a Finance Intern to ensure timely processing of payments and system transactions, filing of tax returns, reconciliation of bank accounts and general ledgers, and resolution of all outstanding items as per set policies and procedures.
Reports to: Finance Manager
Main Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare bank reconciliations for all Head Office bank accounts.
- Prepare the BOU weekly liquidity return, extract daily branch liquidity reports, act as a bank agent, collect WHT and FD certificates promptly, ensure withheld amounts are offset against taxes to be paid, and file treasury documents.
- Prepare schedules for allocated asset and liability general ledgers (e.g., NSSF provision, PAYE payable, VAT payable, withholding tax payable, accrued salary, local service tax, excise duty, receivables mobile money from MTN, stamp duty provision, and prepaid taxes).
- Prepare adjusting journals for reconciling items from bank account and general ledger reconciliations.
- Process payments for NSSF, PAYE, WHT, stamp duty, excise duty, LST, VAT, and other payments as per set timelines.
- Post transactions to the core banking system and verify payments.
- Resolve audit issues.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Commerce, majoring in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Statistics.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
- Knowledge of accounting, operational, and financial reporting.
- Strong working knowledge of Excel.
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Self-starter with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Attention to accuracy and detail.
