Purpose of the job

An Assistant Laboratory Technician supports both Physiotherapy and laboratory functions. H/She assists with student instruction, including supervision of Physiotherapy modalities and education, while also performing tasks related to laboratory maintenance and setup. This dual role requires a combination of practical skills and student interaction abilities.

Person Specifications

1. Diploma in Physiotherapy.
2. Experience in Higher Education Technologies is an added advantage.
3. Being registered with the Allied Health Professional Council is an added advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities

a Assisting students with Physiotherapy modalities, demonstrate proper techniques, and provide motivation.

b Helping students use mobility aids like walkers or canes, and assisting with transfers (e.g., from sitting to standing).

c Helping students prepare for practical demonstrations, and apply therapeutic techniques as directed by the lecturer.

d Discussing student progress with the lecturer, document observations, and update records.

e Setting up and cleaning practical areas and Physiotherapy equipment.

f Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, including exercise therapy and electrotherapy instruments.

g Cleaning and sterilizing laboratory work areas

h Maintaining inventory of supplies, and

i Ensuring a safe and organized laboratory environment.

Key Output

i Students assisted with Physiotherapy modalities, proper techniques demonstrated, and motivation provided.

ii Students progress with the lecturer, document observation and updated records are documented and communicated

iii Equipment and practical arears set up and cleared

iv Laboratory equipment including exercise therapy and electrotherapy equipment operated and maintained

v Laboratory work cleared and sterilized

vi Inventory supplies maintained

vii Safe and organized laboratory environment ensured

viii Students helped to use mobility aids like walkers or canes, and assisted with transfers (e.g., from sitting to standing).

ix Students helped to prepare for practical demonstrations and apply therapeutic techniques as directed by the lecturer.

x Equipment Setup & Maintenance Set up.

xi Equipment Operated and maintained.
