PURPOSE:
To prepare Bills of Quantities for construction related works.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assess the status of Bank buildings (residences and offices) and recommend the estimated costs for any repairs required to the buildings, compounds and pavements.
- Prepare Bills of Quantities and cost estimates for proposed new construction projects, building repairs and maintenance works.
- Review bills of quantities for construction and/or renovation related works for initiation of procurement.
- Verify Contractors’ requests for payments.
- Prepare interim payment certificates, and final accounts for construction and/or renovation works.
- Carry out evaluation of houses of staff Building Loan applications.
- Verify accountabilities submitted by staff towards building loans usage.
- Conduct routine supervision of contractor maintenance and/or construction activities to ensure adherence to the bills of quantities and value for money.
- Provide input in evaluation of bids for procurement of construction and/or renovation works.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Real Estates Services Section.
EXPECTED OUTPUT
- Cost estimates and Bills of Quantities for construction and/or renovation works.
- Interim payment certificates and final accounts for construction and/or renovation works.
- Monthly status reports on all building’s maintenance and construction activities.
- Technical support to staff building loan scheme.
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A First Class or Upper Second-Class Honors degree in Quantity Surveying.
- Should be registered with the Surveyors Registration Board (SRB) of Uganda.
EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of 5 years relevant working experience in civil engineering works.
AGE:
- Applicant must be between 35.0 – 40.0 years of age as at close of the advert.

- Advanced computer knowledge. Knowledge of computer aided design (CAD) software is an added advantage.
- Strong organisational and communication skills and ability to make quick decisions.
- Good team player in a diverse environment.
- Problem sensitivity and problem-solving skills

- Coordinating and monitoring skills
- Should be ready to work beyond normal call of duty.

- High degree of integrity and confidentiality.

PHYSICAL DEMAND OF THE JOB
Job requires physical strength and good health to withstand long working hours.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Working outside normal working hours and over the weekends and public holidays
- Responding to emergencies
- Involves a lot of physical movement.
- Frequent travel upcountry
