Department: Information Technology.
Reports To Manager Cbs.
Duty Station: Head Office.

JOB PURPOSE
The CBS Officer will be responsible for supporting, monitoring, and optimizing the performance of the core banking system to ensure efficiency, reliability, and minimal downtime. The role includes executing end-of-day (EOD) processes accurately and within stipulated timelines, as well as identifying and resolving system-related issues in a timely manner. The Officer will ensure the integrity, security, and availability of system data, while supporting system upgrades, patches, and enhancements, collaboration with internal teams and external service providers to address system challenges and improve overall functionality.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES.

  • Perform end-of-day (EOD) processes in a timely manner daily to guarantee integrity of the Business Reports.
  • Ensure that Extraction of reports is complete and distribution of POST EOD reports into the designated system.
  • Monitor the system performance on input output waits, system and database locks (Core Banking user licenses) usage and system speeds.
  • Proactively Investigate and attend to CBS service desk Incidents and requests and resolved within agreed timelines.
  • Responsible for Core Banking application and webserver monitoring and reporting.
  • Ensure strict change control measures to customization on core banking system.
  • Manage disaster recovery and business continuity for services related to the core banking system.
  • Document all Customization-Modifications done to the Core Banking system for continuity.
  • Schedule, plan and supervise the installation and testing of new products, upgrades, patches, or improvement to the Core Banking Application system.
  • Responsible for gathering system enhancement details, data extract requests and reporting requirements from system users and working closely with the information technology team develop detailed technical requirements and resulting specifications.
  • Responsible for maintaining Core Banking systems’ performance by performing proactive system capacity and availability monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning. Troubleshooting network problems; escalating problems to CBS vendor.
  • Responsible for maintaining up-to-date documentation of core banking system operations manuals and procedures.

KEY ATTRIBUTES

  • Technical training and knowledge in basic use of Linux system administration.
  • Analytical thinking and complex problem solving.
  • Critical Judgement and decision making- define issues and focus on providing workable solutions to problems.

  • Maintains the highest levels of integrity and confidentiality.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in computer science, software Engineering, Information Systems or any other information technology related field from a reputable university.
  • ITIL Foundation certificate in IT service management is added advantage
  • At least 3 years of experience in supporting core banking applications.
  • Significant experience in supporting databases (preferable Oracle databases, Microsoft SQL databases).
