JOB PURPOSE
The Communications and Marketing Lead will be responsible for building and implementing a dynamic communications and marketing strategy for Education Bridge. Based at the head office in Kampala, Uganda, and reporting to the CEO, this role includes frequent travel to South Sudan to gather field-level insights and content. The role is ideal for a creative communicator with a passion for storytelling, a strategic mindset, and a commitment to amplifying the voices and impact of a mission-driven organization. This is a unique opportunity to grow, as this role will also be the point person for communications capacity building programs with two large funders.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement a comprehensive communications and marketing plan aligned with Education Bridge’s strategic goals.
- Lead capacity building programming provided by two of the organisation’s largest funders; attend trainings, build strategy, implement plans.
- Manage and expand Education Bridge’s presence across digital platforms including social media, website, and email communications.
- Lead the drafting, editing, and dissemination of newsletters, blog articles, and feature stories that highlight student and program impact.
- Coordinate with the Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) team to collect data and impact stories for internal and external communication.
- Oversee the content and structure of the Education Bridge website, ensuring regular updates and accuracy.
- Design and produce key communication artifacts, including annual reports, brochures, and donor-facing materials.
- Collaborate with school leadership and program staff in South Sudan to capture multimedia content, including photos, videos, and testimonials.
- Support donor communications through tailored updates, visual storytelling, and reporting content.
- Contribute to grant writing, fundraising campaigns, and the development of funding proposals as the role evolves.
EDUCATION, PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Experience in nonprofit communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills in English; graphic design or video editing skills are a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to manage digital communications tools (e.g., Mailchimp, WordPress, Canva, Meta Business Suite).
- Ability to translate complex data and field experiences into engaging content for diverse audiences.
- Cultural sensitivity and commitment to working with communities in conflict-affected settings.
- Willingness to travel frequently to South Sudan.
