Who We Are

EarthEnable is transforming how people live by making homes healthier for families across rural Rwanda, Kenya and Uganda and helping to reduce the polluting impact of the building industry on the environment. Most Rwandans, Ugandans and Kenyans live in homes with dirt floors that are dusty, unsanitary, and fertile breeding grounds for parasites and germs. While replacing a dirt floor with concrete has significant health benefits (e.g., reducing diarrhea by 50% and parasitic infections by 80%), concrete is unaffordable for many who need it and is a huge contributor to global pollution.

To counter the environmental and affordability issues surrounding concrete, EarthEnable has spent the past 8+ years developing and selling high-quality, earthen floors and plasters that are 80% cheaper than concrete with 90% less embodied energy.

About the Role

We are looking for a dynamic, hands-on, and dedicated Constructions Officer to lead our efforts on the ground. You will be the engine of our construction projects, ensuring they are delivered to the highest standards of quality, timeliness, and efficiency. If you are a natural leader, passionate about community development, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, this is the perfect role for you.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Oversight & Quality Assurance

  • Manage construction projects from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and EarthEnable’s high-quality standards.
  • Supervise all site operations, assign tasks to masons, and monitor progress to keep projects on track.
  • Take full charge of the county’s quality, conducting audits and taking accountability for the final product.

Team & Franchisee Management

  • Train, support, and empower a network of franchisees and masons to maintain excellence.
  • Regularly assess mason performance and recommend promotions to the Construction Manager.
  • Monitor franchisee adherence to company policies and provide guidance to overcome challenges.

Materials & Inventory Management

  • Accurately track material usage and provide detailed reports to the Finance and Admin teams.
  • Maintain full accountability for all tools and construction equipment.
  • Oversee the delivery, distribution, and reconciliation of key materials like varnish and paint.

Reporting, Collaboration & Customer Experience

  • Deliver regular updates to management on project progress, challenges, and resolutions.
  • Work closely with Finance to reconcile material usage with customer payments.
  • Uphold EarthEnable’s commitment to customer satisfaction through high-quality work and professional service.
  • Be the face of the EarthEnable brand in your district, promoting our values and mission.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage and motivate teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
