JOB DETAILS:
The purpose of the role:
To successfully develop all communications content for Montrose’s internal and external communications across a variety of platforms and formats.
Location: Preferably, this position will be based in the UK, but other locations where Montrose has a permanent office will be considered.

Core responsibilities of the role:
As a Content Developer for communications, you will craft engaging and strategic content across various channels. You will work autonomously using reports, proposal documentation and programme documents to produce quality, professional and sophisticated content that demonstrates our technical expertise and capability and raises our profile within the sector. Content needs to be tailored to our varying target audiences including the private sector, governments, and partners.

Technical areas specific to the role:
• Lead on the creation of written, visual, and multimedia content ensuring brand consistency and collaborating with various teams to convey key messaging, whilst being able to autonomously analyse technical content to produce excellent communications content.
• Working closely with the programme management team to understand the projects being implement and their impact, drawing from them the key messages to be communicated.
• Using project documentation and reports, synthesise the content and draw out key data to be used in social media posts and other communication formats.
• Proactively create content and then have the programme team review this and provide comments and feedback for finalisation.
• Ensure images are collected and stored correctly and complaint with GDPR policies.
• Following the data storage guidelines for images
• Coding images and cross-referencing these with consent forms
• Ensuring all images and sources and referenced in any content used.
• Strong research, storytelling, and editing skills are essential to produce compelling content that resonates with our target audience's.
• Being able to identify the key messages and translate these into a story of impact that includes technical expertise as well.
• Research additional and complementary information to enhance the story from Montrose.
• Identify when significant industry events take place and find ways to tell Montrose’s story situated within these events.
• Stay updated on industry trends and contribute towards our content strategy for effective communication.
• Research industry related topics using online sources, interviews, and case studies.
• Creating landing page copy, blog articles, and marketing material in various formats.
• Design Montrose content using our branding guidelines and appropriate software.
• Design content which looks professional and ‘eye-catching’ and which is tailored to specific audiences and clients including the private sector, NGOs, governments and UN bodies.
• Support the business development team with simple design and images/graphics content to ensure our proposals stand out and are compelling.

Requirements
Personal specification for the role:
Essential:
• BA degree or equivalent experience in communications, marketing, or related field
• Written and spoken English including excellent spelling and grammar (British English).
• Editorial and proofreading skills
• Creative and ability to design content using software such as Canva.
• Proficient with social media platforms including X, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn
• Attention to detail and able to follow branding and style guidelines.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Excellent planning skills and flexible and adaptable to meet changing needs of the company and colleagues.

Desirable:
• Copywriting experience demonstrated by a portfolio of published articles.
• Proficient with using systems including HMTL.
• Strategic thinking and experience in developing communications plans.
• Experience in the international development sector.
• Experience of living/working in a low-income country and/or the experience of working across cultures and time zones.
