About This Role
The Technical Supervisor will provide technical support, manage and supervise social workers implementing the Child Rights Monitoring and Remediation System in selected coffee farming communities in the Greater Masaka region, Uganda.
Primary Responsibilities
Technical Case Management Supervision:
- Ensure ethical, timely, effective and quality case management programming for children who have experienced or are at risk of violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation (or are otherwise vulnerable in line with the eligibility criteria and case prioritization guide in the Remediation Guidelines and Tools) by the case management team.
- Ensure case management team successfully implements the Child Case Management process, as per the Remediation Guidelines and Tools.
- Review case files for capacity gaps and areas for coaching and development of social workers through 5 case file checks per AAA Social Worker on a monthly basis.
- Conduct gap analysis and provide recommendations on improvement of the functionality of the Remediation Guidelines and Tools, referral mechanisms and direct service provision.
- Draft and submit monthly reports to the Project Coordinator in a timely manner.
Developmental Case Management Supervision: (Ensure social workers are continually updating their knowledge and skills and applying them to their daily work)
- Provide ongoing capacity building to social workers on the Remediation Guidelines and Tools, Information Sharing and Data Protection Protocols, referral pathways and practices, etc.
- Support social workers through a coaching approach; including reflective practice, self-awareness, collaborative problem solving and the application of guiding principles in the Remediation Guidelines and Tools.
- Conduct observations for Social Worker every month.
Supportive Case Management Supervision: (Ensuring the emotional and psychological wellbeing of case management team)
- Promote the safety of case management team within the communities they are operating.
- Promote self-care and team building of case management team.
Community and Interagency Coordination:
- Liaise with community members (incl. community-based child protection committees), service providers, NGO partners and government stakeholders to identify and safely refer children at risk.
- Maintain an up-to-date service mapping inventory and Multisectoral referral pathway for the geographical area.
- Participate in multi-sector case conferences (presentation of cases and dissemination of challenges).
Case Management Teamwork:
- Lead in regular case management meetings with the case management team (one meeting every 2 weeks).
- Organize monthly group supervision meeting with the case management team and the Community Development Officers
- Prepare for and lead in regular structured individual supervision sessions with each social worker (1 hour per Social Worker every 2 weeks).
- Provide oversight documentation of all project activities, tasks, achievements and success stories.
- Coordinate timely and quality production and submission of narratives and financial reports according to donor agreements
- In collaboration with the Finance Department, support Social Workers to plan and track expenses against approved budgets and review financial reporting for approval prior to submission to donors and ensures timely financial reporting to donors.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Project Coordinator.
Required Experience and Education
- Minimum of Bachelor of Social Work and Social Administration, Development Studies or relevant field.
- Minimum 2-4 years of professional experience working in the child protection sector (Case management).
- Atleast 2 years motorcycle riding experience with a valid riding permit.
Required Competencies
- Proven leadership and staff supervision skills, with a track record of building and sustaining high-performing teams.
- Proficiency in computer applications and digital tools relevant to project management.
- Written and oral communication skills in English; fluency in a local language is an advantage
- Willingness to regularly travel across the project sites.
- Proficient in stakeholder engagement and communication.
- Manage multiple projects effectively under pressure.
- Demonstrate analytical and problem-solving abilities.
