This position requires strong financial understanding, excellent leadership, and a commitment to ethical and sustainable practices, including the prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (SEAH).
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management and Planning: Oversee all daily financial transactions, maintain accurate records in our accounting software, and prepare comprehensive bi-monthly financial reports and budget analyses. You’ll assist management in financial plans, budgets and forecasts, identify cost-saving opportunities, and handle financial support for specific activities.
- Government Compliance & Relations: Ensure we adhere to all national and local government laws, policies, and regulations, including those related to taxes and staff benefits. You’ll stay updated on legislative changes, identify financial opportunities, and maintain strong relationships with government agencies and local suppliers.
- Asset & Stock Management: Take charge of asset registration and ensure our asset register is accurate and up-to-date. You’ll also oversee all stock management processes, ensuring precise inventory records.
- Procurement Supervision: You’ll supervise our Operations Manager on all procurement activities, ensuring policies are followed, vendors are selected competitively, and orders are finalized efficiently within Odoo. You’ll also verify activity expenses against agreements and policies.
- Collaboration: Ability to effectively partner and communicate with colleagues across various departments to ensure seamless financial processes, accurate record-keeping, and efficient expense management.
- Ethics: You’ll champion Kara-Tunga’s standards and actively promote policies to ensure a safe and respectful environment for everyone.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 5.0 scale). A professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is a plus.
- Experience: At least 4 years of progressive experience in a finance or procurement role, including supervisory responsibilities.
- Technical Skills: Proven proficiency and hands-on experience with accounting software is essential. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills are critical.
- Soft Skills: Excellent leadership, organizational, and time-management abilities. You should have strong interpersonal skills, be an exceptional communicator in English (both verbal and written), and able to collaborate effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.
- Compliance: A demonstrated understanding of Ugandan tax laws, labor laws related to staff benefits, and other relevant financial regulations. A clear commitment to SEAH prevention is non-negotiable.
- Adaptability: The ability to thrive outside Kampala city and embrace unique operational challenges. A passion for the hospitality industry and commitment to excellent service is a bonus.
What we offer
