Job Purpose

To analyze financial data, forecast trends and prepare models to support tariff regulation, strategic planning and operational decision-making. The role ensures accurate financial insights that aid in regulatory compliance, tariff development and cost optimization.

Impact: This position supports the organization’s financial stability and regulatory compliance by providing data-driven insights for tariff planning and ensuring that financial decisions align with both business objectives and regulatory requirements.

Key Result Areas

  1. Evaluate existing tariffs and develop models for tariff adjustment proposals based on cost, demand, and regulatory guidelines
  2. Create financial models to forecast revenue, costs, and profitability under various scenarios, supporting strategic and regulatory planning
  3. Analyze and interpret financial data to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for tariff structures and reporting
  4. Monitor and analyze costs and revenue trends, identifying areas for efficiency improvement and revenue enhancement
  5. Maintain accurate financial databases and prepare reports to support tariff planning and regulatory submissions
  6. Collaborate with internal teams and provide insights for tariff-related discussions with regulatory bodies and other stakeholders

  1. Well-documented and justified tariff adjustment proposals submitted to regulatory bodies
  2. Detailed financial models and forecasts that provide actionable insights for decision-making
  3. Timely and accurate submissions of financial reports to regulators in compliance with applicable laws
  4. Comprehensive reports highlighting key trends and actionable recommendations for cost control and revenue optimization
  5. Reliable financial databases and periodic reports that align with organizational and regulatory needs
  6. Effective support in stakeholder meetings with clear financial justifications and responses to queries.

Person Specifications

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
  • Professional certification such as CFA, CPA, or ACCA is an added advantage

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial analysis, regulatory finance, or related roles.
  • Experience in the energy or utilities sector is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling, advanced MS Excel, and ERP systems.

Competencies

  • Ability to analyze complex data and translate it into actionable insights.
  • High accuracy in financial modeling and reporting.
  • Understanding of tariff structures, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey financial insights effectively.
  • Capability to identify issues and propose innovative solutions.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial analysis tools, ERP systems, and data visualization software.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and support regulatory discussions
