Database Administrator at DFCU Bank
Reporting to: Database Operations Manager
Duty station: Head Office
Reporting to the Database Operations Manager, the Database Administrator is responsible for designing, installing, administering, and optimizing company databases, and related components to achieve high performance of the various business applications and achieve specified server uptime.
This includes ensuring the availability of client/server applications, configuring all new implementations, and developing processes and procedures for proper database management. Where applicable, the Database Administrator will assist in overseeing the physical security, integrity, and safety of the data center/server farm.
The role holder is responsible for providing expert advice and support on the Banks database systems related undertakings.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Provide support for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of the organizations relational databases to ensure maximum availability and performance.
- Provide substantive input to systems Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plan and ensuring proper fail over setup plans.
- To monitor and tune database performance as well as control user access and security.
- To ensure functionality of databases and adherence of procedures by all users.
- To plan for all database systems, storage/capacity requirements.
- To analyze business application requirements and develop specifications for databases construction and maintenance.
- To commission, install and test new applications and versions of database Management Systems (DBMS).
- To communicate regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security.
- Manages the operations of all corporate database and data center as per set policy & procedures.
- Maintains up-to-date documentation of all corporate databases operations manuals and procedures.
- Monitors the status of end-of-cycle activities including backups ensuring compliance with bank’s guidelines and procedures.
- Plan and execute routine maintenance activities according to agreed schedules and ensure satisfactory service levels with respective service providers.
- Investigate problems with databases and end-of cycle runs, ensure appropriate corrective action or escalate problems as appropriate.
- Monitor and report on the performance of end of cycle runs and provide explanations for any performance deviations with recommendations for the redress of any difficulties.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- A University degree in computer science information, systems information technology or Computer engineering from a reputable institution.
- Oracle and or Microsoft Certified Database certifications.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Server Operating Systems and UNIX i.e., SOLARIS & Linux.
- Excellent experience in system scripting, such as PYTHON, Shell, etc.
- Knowledge of SQL and database management Systems is a must.
- Experience working with open-source RDBMS e.g., MySQL.
ITIL Foundation training.
- 3 – 5 years working experience preferably with a financial institution in database administration and data center management.
- Experience with multiple storage and backup subsystems.
- Experience of SQL Server High Availability.
- Full understanding of enterprise change management processes.
- Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and in verbal discussions with users.
- Good working knowledge of banking systems, operations, and processes.
- Self-motivated team player with the ability to adapt and work co-operatively and effectively in different situations and teams to carry out assigned tasks maintain a positive attitude under stress conditions.
- Disposition to share knowledge fully and willingly with other employees in the interest of the organization.

Fraud Risk Analyst at DFCU Bank
Duty station: Head Office
The role holder will monitor, detect and prevent losses resulting from high risk and fraudulent monetary and non-monetary transactions through timely review and closure of fraud risk alerts.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

- Monitor and analyze bank accounts, financial transactions and other financial documents to identify red flags, stop and report any potentially fraudulent activity.
- Detect and prevent potential fraud across all payment channels in the Bank by reviewing alerts on customers’ accounts, observing customer transactions to identify fraudulent activity such as account take over, theft and similar other risks.
- Identify fraud patterns through active monitoring and interpretation of all the alerts on the different Bank’s fraud detection and monitoring tools/ dashboards and ensure that appropriate actions are taken to mitigate fraud.
- Interact with internal and external parties where necessary to validate transaction information as and when required.
- Contribute to the creation of fraud rules on the Bank’s fraud detection tools periodically by providing analytical data to support decisions.
- Continuously improve information flow to mitigate fraud by facilitating periodic calls with Visa Risk Manager (VRM) team and other stakeholders.
- Timely escalation of alerts that require the Financial Crime Manager (MFCM), Head Financial Crime Management (HFCM) or Chief Risk Officer (CRO) as flagged by the Fraud Detection.
- Timely resolution of queued transactions within the service level agreement (SLA) to reduce potential revenue losses.
- Prepare and submit monthly reports detailing the number of monthly suspected fraudulent cases and its financial exposures to the Bank, the number of confirmed frauds cases and the fraud saves accomplished.
- Perform first level investigations on identified suspicious activities/fraud risks and other cases as and when assigned by MFCM/HFCM.
- Collaborate with internal teams to implement fraud prevention measures including through bank wide training and awareness, communications on identified high risk areas and lessons learnt.
- Identification of new techniques to prevent future fraud
- Predict potential consequence of a given action, service with the data at your disposal.
