JOB DETAILS:
KABUFACO is a farmers' organization whose main objective is to promote dairy farmers, activities and programs to improve dairy farming and marketing in alliance with like-minded organizations in Uganda. KABUFACO is a leading Coop- erative Society in Uganda, located in Lyantonde District. KABUFACO has 17 milk collection centers, 22 milk coolers and the collection capacity of approximately 70,100 litres per day. KABUFACU was incorporated by the Ministry of Trade Industry and Cooperatives in in 2010.

In a bid to achieve its goals and objectives, the Cooperative wishes to strengthen its management functions by recruiting dynamic and self-motivated individuals and accordingly invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following position:

1. GENERAL MANAGER

Reporting to: The Chairman Executive Board, Kabula Farmers Cooperative Society Ltd
Location: Kabula, Lyantonde District

Job Purpose:
The purpose of the General Manager position is to provide overall oversight to Kabula Farmers’ Cooperative Society and supervise all operations of the Cooperative and ensure optimum utilization of company resources and maximization of outputs and profits for the benefit of all stakeholders/members.

Key responsibilities:
1. Participates, facilitates and supports the Board in the formulation and development of policies for the Cooperative.
2. Interprets and facilitates the implementation of Board policies by all employees
3. Leading in setting the targets and coordinate the work of different employees/ departments to ensure achievement of those targets.
4. Oversee day- to - today operations of the Cooperative Society
5. Leading the Management team in developing Corporate plans, annual operating plans and budgets as well as developing various strategies that enables achievement of the targets.
6. Supervising all the staff at the Cooperative and rating their performance.
7. Receiving and analyzing reports from different milk collection centers for any necessary follow up actions/ issues and provides appropriate feedback to the respective heads
8. Ensure good custody of the Cooperative Society assets
9. Ensure and foster good public relations with all stakeholders of the Cooperative Society (Development Partners, Government and other apex bodies)
10. Facilitating the preparations and organizing of shareholders annual or special general meetings.
11. Prepares management and financial monthly, quarterly and annual reports and submits them to the Executive Board or Advisory Committee as may be required.
12. Supervise the establishment and operationalization of internal business and financial control systems to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
13. Plan and execute mobilization of farmers to join cooperatives for bulking of milk, working hand in hand with the mobilization committee of the Board.
14. Coordinate the execution of programs/projects within the Cooperative Society area of coverage.
15. Work as a technical secretary to the Executive Board.
16. Carryout any other responsibilities as may be assigned to him/her by the Chairman Executive Board

Minimum qualifications, working experience and competencies:
Education Qualifications
1. Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture, Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, Agribusiness, Natural Science's/ Veterinary Disciplines from a reputable institution;
2. Postgraduate qualification in the above mentioned disciplines will be an added advantage.

Essential experience
1. Minimum 5 years' experience working as a Manager and/or relevant experience in managing Cooperative Societies/ big Projects in relevant industry.
2. Relevant working experience and knowledge in milk handling at MBCs and MCCs
3. Knowledge and experience of a cooperative Model of Business (CMB) in diary Sector
4. Experience in agribusiness projects

Essential Skills
1. High level of Integrity
2. Knowledge of accounting/ Financial management
3. Excellent command of English language, both written and spoken.
4. Advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, Power point, access etc.), proficiency in the set-up and use
1. of Excel spreadsheets
5. Skills and experience in analysing data and preparing analytical reports
6. Ability to think independently and self-driven.
7. Excellent attention to detail and stakeholder management skills

Remuneration
• Attractive remuneration will be offered to successful candidate.
