Job Description
- Job Purpose:
Responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of all hotel facilities, ensuring the smooth operation of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems in line with the Hotel strategy and policies.
- Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintenance Operations:
- Supervise and coordinate the maintenance team to ensure timely repair and servicing of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other hotel systems.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all equipment and hotel infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical faults, power distribution issues, and other technical problems.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Make systematic checks on all guest room electrical appliances, circuits, televisions, refrigerators, and light fixtures: Repair most in-room deficiencies to ensure items are in working order
Electrical Systems Management:
- Inspect, install, repair, and maintain electrical systems, wiring, and fixtures to ensure optimal functionality.
- Conduct routine electrical safety checks and ensure compliance with national electrical codes and hotel safety standards.
- Collaborate with external electrical contractors and service providers when necessary.
Team Leadership & Training:
- Supervise, train, and develop the maintenance team to enhance skills and efficiency.
- Assign tasks and oversee work performance to ensure high standards are maintained.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and professionalism within the department.
Budgeting & Resource Management:
- Assist in the preparation of the annual maintenance budget and ensure cost-effective operations.
- Monitor inventory levels of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment and ensure timely procurement.
- Recommend cost-saving initiatives while maintaining quality and efficiency.
Compliance & Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment servicing, and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure all maintenance work adheres to local building codes, fire safety regulations, and industry standards.
- Conduct routine safety inspections and prepare reports for management
Requirements
- Person Specification:
A. Qualification
- Minimum of a higher Diploma/ a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
B. Work Experience
- Five (5) years of progressive experience in maintenance management in at least a 4-star hotel, three (3) years of which should have been in a supervisory role.
C. Competencies
i. Technical Competencies
o Strong knowledge of electrical systems, troubleshooting, and repairs.
o Familiarity with hotel infrastructure, HVAC systems, plumbing, and general maintenance.
- Nature of Work (Physical Demands of the Job)
- Requires standing and working for extended hours occasionally.
