JOB DETAILS:

CURE Children's Hospital of Uganda, a Private-Not-For-Profit (PNFP) Christian hospital specialized in Pediatric Neurosurgery and Integrated Spiritual Ministry, is seeking an experienced Individual for the Full-time position of Biomedical Engineer.


POSITION OVERVIEW
To support patient diagnosing and treatment by installing, testing, calibrating, and repairing biomedical equipment; training users; maintaining safe operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintenance of Hospital Medical Equipment /Biomed Role

1. Ensures all required medical equipment and accessories are available and in a good working condition.
2. Work with service providers and hired workers to install, maintain, or repair medical equipment.
3. Perform scheduled maintenance for medical equipment that is not service contract.
4. Install and adjusts new biomedical equipment according to medical specifications.
5. Train staff members to operate and care for equipment with physical demonstrations and educational presentations.
6. Manage the inventory, makes requests, and verifies deliveries of medical equipment, testing equipment, accessories and other related supplies.
7. Perform corrective maintenance on faulty medical equipment and effectively communicate with all department supervisors regarding on ongoing repair of equipment.
8. Manage the medical equipment work requests, receiving, prioritizing, and facilitating their completion. Always keep a list of all outstanding requests and updates the same on the CMS system.
9. Ensures that all equipment meets company standards of safety and quality and is in compliance with relevant laws.
10. Provide on call services.

Inventory of Hospital Equipment Managed.
1. Oversees the tools and equipment assigned to the maintenance department.
2. Manages the inventory of maintenance supplies, testing equipment and accessories of medical equipment.
3. Maintain an inventory of biomed and electrical hand and powered tools, testing equipment.
4. Maintain an up-to-date inventory of departmental supplies, and accessories.
5. Maintain an up-to-date register of all medical equipment and systems in the hospital.
6. Effectively use CMS to track the life and performance of equipment by ensuring that work orders are created for every work order/request and closed when tasks are completed.
7. Supports the purchasing of maintenance supplies and giving proper accountability according to set procedures.
8. Maintains an up-to-date inventory of all biomedical tools.
9. Maintains an up-to-date file of copies of equipment manuals and schematic diagrams supplied by manufacturers.

Occupational Health and Safety observed.

1. Uses proper safety equipment at all times when inspecting, repairing, transporting and maintaining medical and other equipment.
2. Maintain an organized, healthy and safe work environment and training fellow co-workers.

Spiritual Ministry

1. Participates in the hospital’s Spiritual Ministry programs.

Other duties

1. Other official related duties that may be assigned by Supervisor.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
1. A completed Degree in medical equipment maintenance or its equivalent from a recognized institution
2. Good communication skills with other employees, patients and their families
3. Ability and willingness to learn new techniques and procedures as are needed.
4. Must be honest and have integrity.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

1. Fluency in written and spoken English and local languages.
2. Excellent organisational/administrative skills and ability to effectively plan in evolving situations.
3. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
4. Strong computer proficiency using software applications such as Microsoft Office & Google Drive.

JOB DETAILS:

POSITION OVERVIEW:
To implement the M&E activities of the hospital specifically, the M&E requirements of the USAID ASHA grant at CURE Uganda and support the hospital’s research initiatives by collecting relevant data.

Responsibilities
Oversee M&E Requirements

1. Effectively oversee the M&E requirements of the USAID ASHA grant, including surveys and focus groups Develop procedures that outline the data collector role.
2. Develop and strengthen monitoring, inspection, and evaluation procedures

Data management function

1. Collect and input M&E data for patients in accordance with established procedures, for ongoing baseline reporting.
2. Ensure data cleanliness and integrity.
3. Support the clinical team in the quality improvement, audit and research projects that will further inform the clinical service, including patient recruitment, data collection and logistical support.

Communication function
1. Generate monthly narrative report of activities and as needed per leadership’s requests and DC capacity.
2. Produce monthly narrative report to describe M&E activities.

Training function
1. Assist hospital personnel with M&E tools and support them in their use, training and retraining as necessary.
2. Personal Improvement initiatives to further the understanding of the DC role.

Occupational Health and Safety observed.

2. Following & complying with H&S policies, processes & applying them to your own work activities, including using/wearing Personal Protective Equipment as required.

4. Early and accurate reporting of incidents at work and raising issues of concern when identified.

Spiritual Ministry
Participates in the hospital's Spiritual Ministry Programs.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
1. A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Statistics, Math's.
2. Strong training and facilitation skills
3. Experience in the implementation of M&E in development projects implemented by national/international NGOs/Government; desirable.
4. Experience in designing tools and strategies for data collection, analysis and production of reports; desirable.
