ROLE PURPOSE:

The Program Officer will facilitate and supervise the implementation of Seed Effect Uganda activities in the Savings for Life Program, the Educative training program, the Agriculture Program, and the Spiritual Discipleship program. S/he will lead savings groups under his/her supervision through 3 phases of the savings cycle using the Savings for Life Methodology.

Key Responsibilities:

Representation

  • Represents the SFL program in the community
  • Assists with the pre-orientation meetings with the local community and church leaders to gain interest within the community.
  • Sensitizes the community on activities and progress of the operation.
  • Attend all settlements and community meetings respectively in the area of operation and provide feedback

SFL Methodology

  • Participate in training in SFL methodology
  • Participate in the selection and training of Community-Based Facilitators (CBFs) in SFL methodology and implementation
  • Conduct refresher pieces of training for Community-Based Facilitators.

Monitoring & Evaluation

  • Ongoing capacity building to CBFs in SFL methodology and implementation
  • Supervises CBFs by attending group meetings where they are training
  • SFL data gathering for all groups under his/her responsibility
  • Fill out monthly MIS forms and assist the data manager in completing online MIS forms for reporting
  • Fills out monthly or quarterly reports covering information on savings groups’ performance and CBF performance in the Program Officer’s zone
  • Preparation of periodic operational plans
  • Assists Program Coordinator in preparations for field visits
  • Timely submission of accurate periodic reports to the supervisor
  • Ensure groups become independent and can run their activity without the support of Seed Effect Uganda

Spiritual

  • Model your personal life to reflect Christian values and biblical principles both within and outside Seed Effect premises.
  • Attend daily morning devotions to learn God’s word and deepen your relationship with him.
  •  Participate in leading morning devotions, sharing the word of God, and conducting prayers whenever called upon.
  •  Maintain a focus on Jesus Christ in everything you do at Seed Effect Uganda.

Personal Specifications:
• Personal confession of faith in Jesus Christ and a passionate commitment to Seed Effect’s mission to serve as a holistic tool to live out the Great Commission alongside the Great Commandment as we empower the poor to know and follow Christ, plug into the local church, and overcome physical poverty.

• A bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, SWASA, or any related field.
• Should have at least 2 years of experience in fieldwork, working with the community, or in a similar position with local or international NGOs within the region
• Ability to demonstrate servant leadership skills
• Living in the community and speaking the local languages (Bari Languages and Arabic)
• Respected by local people and leaders
• Should have computer and accounting skills
• Must be proficient in Riding with a valid driving license (class A)
• Should have experience in conducting training
• Should have an eye for detail, good organizational skills, be self-motivated, be able to lead a team, and be an experienced teacher or facilitator
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
