JOB DETAILS:
OVERVIEW

The role holder will provide leadership and management of Nutrition interventions with focus on the Urban Adolescent Nutrition Project and to ensure that all components of the project are functioning properly, providing quality care to all the beneficiaries while respecting guidelines and principles of good practice.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Technical support
• Ensure all volunteers and partners understand and implement project guidelines;
• Ensure appropriate and consistent education messaging to adolescents and other carers at all programming contact points and in the community
Note: the key messages should be agreed by all stakeholders to ensure consistency;
• Facilitate the development and scheduling of outreach activities.
• Ensure ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the project, including compiling monthly activity reports.
• Ensure the project is delivered on time and within the budget
Training and capacity building
• Conduct orientations and trainings on adolescent nutrition to build the capacity of staff/volunteers, KCCA staff and the community at large.
• Train Project staff, volunteers and Peers counsellors on adolescent nutrition best practices. Provide staff appraisals and supportive supervision;
Advocacy and communication
• Facilitate cross-sectoral programming, particularly to promote excellent communication.
• Attend relevant internal and external sectoral coordination meetings;
• Liaise with other development and humanitarian actors, local authorities, and others to maximize collaboration and ensure proper coordination of activities and agreed protocols;
• Under the guidance of the project manager, undertake local level advocacy targeting other INGO's, development actors, local authorities, and ministries as appropriate, on assessment and appropriate response to support infant and young child feeding and nutrition promotion.
To be successful for this role you will bring/have the following:
• At least a degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetic/Public Health/ Nursing.
• At least two years of continuous Working Experience
• Experience in conducting assessments and an understanding of nutritional data
• Proven capacity to supervise, train and coach staff and working with community members
• Willingness and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when faced with difficult and frustrating working conditions
• Demonstrable ability at report writing and excellent communication skills
• Computer literate
• Written and oral fluency in English is a requirement.
