SeaOwl Energy Services is seeking a Stakeholder Engagement Officer. This role is part of the Social Performance division and reports to the Stakeholder Engagement Coordinator. The position is based in Kampala and there is one opening.
Responsibilities or duties
ACTIVITIES
The position holder is responsible for:
- Work closely with the Stakeholder Engagement Coordinator, to manage engagement with project stakeholders at national and subnational level to establish strong working relationships, and project information advocates.
- Manage and maintain stakeholder maps, develop and execute annual engagement plan, prepare communications to stakeholders and respond to stakeholder enquiries while collaborating across teams to meet functional requirements for national and sub-national engagement.
- Manage relational engagement including stakeholder mapping, identifying opinion leaders to engage as fact champions for the information on the project.
- Identify and improve on gaps in stakeholder engagement as part of continuous improvement.
- Coordinate and collaborate with the stakeholder engagement team, especially the Site Stakeholder Engagement Supervisor, the Grievance Coordinator and Community Liaison Officers as required.
- Prepare and manage workshops, roundtable and forum logistics including developing agendas, project plans, minute taking and production of reports
- Ensure accurate audit trail maintained of all stakeholder engagement and all contact/activities are recorded on stakeholder information management system
- Coordinate and collaborate with other SP functions assuming delivery for programs aimed at mitigating adverse impacts as well as delivering positive development outcomes including Land Access and Resettlement, Contractor Assurance and Corporate Social Responsibility. In addition, coordination with staff responsible for Content Development and Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting will be required.
- Facilitate other Tilenga needs for engagement with national and sub-national stakeholder engagement as required and ensure feedback of stakeholder responses and requests to the company are responded to within agreed timescales.
- Assume responsibility developing strategy, plan and executing stakeholder engagement for other stakeholder categories as required (e.g., tourism)
- Monitor Stakeholder Engagement performance and outcomes and ensure continuous improvement and work with Content and MER staff to develop appropriate monthly, quarterly and annual reporting reports and dashboards as agreed with Stakeholder Engagement Manager.
- Contribute to project deliverables including annual work plans, programmatic reports, and others to be determined.
Qualifications or requirements
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Qualification:
- Degree in Communications.
Experience needed
Experience:
- At least 5 years’ experience in professional experience working in the communications
- Experience with rural communities in Uganda, preferably within the Albertine area and/or with the tourism industry is a bonus
- Demonstrable planning, organizational and execution skills
- Ability to work with multiple teams in a complex and multicultural environment.
- Ability to maintain good relations with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, NGOs, donors, local authorities, local communities.
- Relationship management
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent analytical and report writing skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant Software
