Strategic Partnerships and Development Associate at Asante Africa Foundation

This position reports directly to the Country Manager - Uganda and works closely with the Development Team and Senior Management.

BACKGROUND

Asante Africa Foundation is recognized for delivering educated resilient East African youth who can confidently address life’s challenges, thrive in the global economy, and catalyse positive change. Our youth enter into the community capable of managing obstacles and opportunities as they arise. We tackle complex system level challenges that girls, boys, and particularly under represented and rural youth face. Asante Africa Foundation is a global alliance of 4 member organizations (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and USA) focusing on rural youth education and skilling. Our team is composed of local implementation teams and globally guided Boards (KE, TZ, UG, USA). This is an exciting time to join the Asante Africa Foundation organization.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Strategic Partnerships and Development Associate will develop and maintain relationships with partner organizations, businesses, and individuals to support the mission and goals of our organization in Uganda. This includes identifying potential partners, negotiating and managing partnerships, coordinating events and initiatives, and working closely with the Development, Marketing and Communications teams within the organization to ensure effective collaboration and resource mobilization.

Job Functions

  • Research potential partnership opportunities that align with Asante Africa’s mission and goals in Uganda as well as globally.
  • Develop and implement national fundraising strategies to secure financial support from partners including Grant writing, cultivating and following up with prospective partners, collaborators, and funders and ensuring timely submission of proposals.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external organizations, businesses, and individuals in Uganda to establish strategic partnerships and funding opportunities.
  • Work closely with the Development, Marketing and Communications teams within the organization to ensure effective collaboration and alignment of strategies tailored for Uganda in order to raise awareness of the key sustainable interventions.
  • Support the communications and MEL officer in monitoring the Fundraising tracking matrix.
  • Collectively craft key messages within and without the organization.
  • Assist with preparation of internal events and represent Asante Africa at events, conferences, and meetings in Uganda to promote partnerships and expand the network.
  • Utilize organization tools and systems to continuously outreach to existing leads in Uganda and beyond to move the potential partner to an appointment/proposal/agreement, etc.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure compliance with regulations and contractual obligations.
  • Provide administrative support in a well-organized and timely manner.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Social Sciences, Business, Marketing, Communications and other relevant studies.
  • 3-4 years of experience in strategic partnerships, business development, marketing or related fields.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Canva, Salesforce, Google Workspace, Zoom and LinkedIn.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; including writing and public speaking.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent time management; the ability to prioritize workload to meet timelines.
  • Experience communicating effectively across cultures and time zones.
  • A personal interest and commitment to Asante Africa Foundation’s mission.
  • Background in non-profit or youth empowerment/engagement programs preferred.
