Context & Environment

A Green Field Project, the Tilenga field is to be found in a remote location in UGANDA near lake Albert with sensitive environmental conditions. A challenging project: heavy and waxy oils produced from 29 drilling pads (with some of them located in a national park) and treated in a Production Center of 200,000 bopd oil capacity and 650,000 blpd of water treatment capacity. Dedicated to gas treatment, LPG recovery and storage facilities will be located at site with 25 trucks of LPG loaded per day (3 loading bay in operation). Reservoir pressure maintenance is ensured either by water injection or by polymer water injection depending on the reservoir characteristics. The project also includes an extended interconnecting network with temperature preservation.

Multicultural environment: Contractors are anticipated to be in various parts of the world. Ugandan rules and regulations, administrative requirements and technical authorizations as well as international codes for onshore plant will apply.

Activities

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the focal point for Well Performance within the Smart room.
  • Monitor ESP, well operating parameters & Well-surface Equipment using PI, DCS Panaroma, and ESP Digital Tool Dashboards.
  • Ensure ESPs & Well-surface Equipment operate continuously within OEM-recommended envelopes.
  • Track key well performance indicators including Production and Injection flow rates & Wellhead pressure for water injector wells
  • Detect and escalate deviations such as Declining production rates, Sensor malfunctions, Abnormal operating trends.
  • Lead level 1 troubleshooting of any well-related anomalies observed in collaboration with production performance and Well Performance.
  • Actively participate in level 2 ESP well troubleshooting in collaboration with OEMs, production performance, Well Performance, completions, and GSR teams.
  • Provide remote diagnostics and operational recommendations to site personnel with regards to wells.
  • Actively participate in daily site meetings to align on well status and actions.
  • Follow up the implementation of well-optimization recommendations from Well Performance & Production Performance.
  • Contribute to the development of automated dashboards and alerts for real-time Well Performance Tracking.
  • Participate in pilot programs for new digital tools and technologies with regards to wells.
  • Update & issue weekly well instruction sheet and monthly loadshedding matrix
  • Update the Well Performance Took Kit – ESP database.
  • Coordinate activity inputs for 5WLA and 6MLA planning cycles with regards to wells, including well integrity tests. Liaise with the Maintenance team on preventive maintenance for VSDs and transformers for any opportunity jobs.
  • Identify and escalate well integrity risks based on real-time data to the Well Integrity Lead Engineer.
  • Focal point for preparation of ESP related SMIS (Software Modification Instruction Sheet) including Transformer tapping adjustment; VSD set point.
  • Participate in the definition of the well startup procedures.
  • Actively participate in the definition of well operation parameters in FCW.
  • Responsible for updating and issuing the Well Instruction sheet and well-loadshedding matrix.
  • Actively participate in barrel boosting initiatives meetings to enhance production.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering or equivalent qualification
  • Professional experience: 6 years’ minimum in Oil & Gas industry. Oil production affiliate exposure, GSR team, qualification in an operating environment (drilling, operations, with practical experience). Minimum one exposure as Well performance engineer on operated asset (ESP pumps operation) and/or Smart room.
  • Sound knowledge in well performance tools (PROSPER, GAP…) and understanding of Field operation challenges on the onshore project.
