Q-Sourcing Limited trading as Q-Sourcing Servtec is a manpower management solutions firm operating in the East African Region in the countries of Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and South Sudan.

On behalf of our client (EADB BANK) in the Banking industry, we are looking for competent, skilled and experienced CHIEF ECONOMIST to work in Kampala, Uganda Head Office.

Responsibilities or duties

Research and Economic Analysis

  • Conduct macroeconomic, sectoral, and policy research on regional and global developments affecting EADB’s operations.
  • Produce regular analytical briefs, country reports, and thematic research to inform strategic planning and innovation priorities.
  • Provide input into economic outlooks, risk assessments, and strategy reviews.

Innovation Intelligence and Advisory

  • Identify and assess emerging technologies, business models, and policy innovations relevant to development finance and regional integration.
  • Support ideation, feasibility assessment, and evaluation of innovation pilots or initiatives led by the Bank.
  • Monitor global best practices in development banking, ESG, and digital innovation, and provide recommendations for adoption.

Strategy and Performance Support

  • Contribute data and research input to the formulation and refinement of corporate and departmental strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Development Impact Analyst to align economic indicators with impact measurement and performance frameworks.
  • Assist in monitoring the implementation of strategic initiatives, including through economic modelling and forecasting tools.

Stakeholder Engagement and Thought Leadership

  • Assist in preparing content for knowledge-sharing events, policy dialogues, and strategic partnerships.
  • Support the Bank’s contributions to regional policy platforms and economic development forums.
  • Draft speeches, presentations, and publications that reflect EADB’s research and innovation insights.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

Academic Qualifications

  • PHD degree in related field is required.
  • Master’s degree in Economics, Development Studies, Public Policy, or a related field.

Professional Qualifications / Membership to Professional Bodies

  • Training or certification in data analytics, innovation studies, or policy analysis is an added advantage.
  • Membership in a relevant economic or innovation research body is a plus.

Experience needed

Previous Relevant Work Experience Required

  • Atleast 10 years of professional experience in macroeconomic policy, research, or economic strategy with atleast 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Strong publishing track record or policy advisory background. Evidence of publications in scholarly journals will be required.
  • Experience producing high-quality research outputs for decision-making or publication.
  • Familiarity with development finance, multilateral lending, and impact assessment tools.
  • Experience managing economics departments or think tanks.

Functional Skills

  • Strong skills in economic analysis, modeling, and forecasting.
  • Proficiency in statistical tools (e.g. Stata, R, Python, Excel).
  • Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Report writing and policy brief development.

Behavioural Competencies / Attributes

  • Intellectual curiosity and analytical rigor.
  • Attention to detail and high standards for quality.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn and innovate.
  • Commitment to development impact and regional integration.
