Background
Marie Stopes Uganda is an NGO registered in Uganda. We are affiliated to Marie Stopes International. Together we deliver post abortion care, quality sexual and reproductive health care and family planning to millions of the world's poorest and most vulnerable women. We want to make sure that women have a choice when it comes to having children and that death by unsafe abortion is reduced.
The primary responsibility of this role is to further our Goal: THE PREVENTION OF UNWANTED BIRTHS and its mission of ensuring the individual’s right to: CHILDREN BY CHOICE NOT CHANCE
The Role
Reporting to the Clinical Services Lead, the night supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the delivery and quality of clinical services in the evening and night. This role typically involves a mix of leadership, clinical expertise, financial, operations and administrative duties to ensure that patients receive high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Management:
- Provide support to clinical teams including nurses, doctors and allied health professionals.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of clinical services ensuring effective and efficient service delivery every night.
- Makes sure staff procedures, and protocols are followed to maintain high standards of care in the evening and night.
- Foster a positive and collaborative working environment
Clinical Oversight:
- Ensure that clinical care is provided in accordance with best practices, MSI standards and regulatory requirements and MOH guidelines.
- Oversee patient care processes, including assessment, treatment, and follow-up.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and optimize outcomes.
- Participate in case reviews and clinical audits to ensure the highest standard of care.
Staff Management:
- Supervise, and support clinical staff every day
Patient Care and Advocacy:
- Advocate for patient-centered care and ensure that patients’ rights and dignity are respected.
- Address patient complaints and concerns, working to resolve issues promptly and effectively.
- Engage with patients and families to improve the patient experience and outcomes.
- Ensure that 100% feedback if collected from all admitted patients and up to 80% of the OPD clients.
Financial Management:
- Ensure continuous conversion rates.
- Asset management that includes but not limited to requisition, tracking service schedules, functionality, storage, and disposal.
- Collaborate with clinical teams to forecast demand based on patient volumes and avoid shortages/excesses.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements without compromising care quality.
Records management
- Ensure compliance for all teams in capturing accurate data in the ERP plus other record books/registers and regularly perform clinical audits and address any gaps to the respective persons.
- Daily review of patient’s interim bills and discharges to ensure correct data capture, accuracy of bills and stock utilization in the evening.
Assets Custodianship
- Ensure effective custodianship and accountability for all assigned MSUG assets by implementing controls to prevent loss, theft or misuse of assets.
Qualifications and Training (essential/ desirable)
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Midwifery from a recognized University /institution
- Registered with the Uganda Nurses and Midwifery Council and holds a valid practicing license.
- Certificate in leadership and management is an added advantage
- Hard working and energetic with a working Nursing/midwifery experience of 3 years and above
- Able to work on full time basis
