PROJECT SUMMARY:

Local Partner Health Services – North and Southwest Activity is implemented by Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC) aimed at continued technical assistance for the implementation of a district-based, integrated package of quality HIV/AIDS, TB and expanded scope of MCH, Malaria and Global Health Security (GHS) services to the beneficiary population in the six districts in Kigezi sub-region.

The main goal of the Activity is to increase the availability, accessibility and utilization of quality, integrated HIV and TB, MCH, Malaria and GHS services.

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:

The Community and PSS Officer will work with the district leadership, facility & community teams with technical oversight of the community & PSS advisor in the provision of lifesaving HIV/TB community and PSS services to all eligible patients /clients accessing these prioritized services at supported health facilities within the district, and contribute to access and utilization of Malaria, MCH services and GHS interventions in the region.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

â–ª Work with the district/site teams in the planning and implementation of integrated community interventions for provision of quality HIV Testing, Care & Treatment, PMTCT/EID, and TB. Malaria, MCH and GHS services.

â–ª Work with the on-site community health workers to implement interventions geared towards targeted HIV, TB and Malaria case finding and Linkages to appropriate treatment for children, adolescents, and adults.

â–ª Work with the on-site health worker teams to sustain a robust appointment keeping & return to care systems, client literacy, contact tracing, community TB screening, and treatment continuity for all TB, PLHIV and other chronic care patients on treatment.

â–ª Work with the on-site health worker teams in the implementation of integrated facility and community PSS interventions (ICSD), treatment failure support for PLHIV and sputum monitoring /treatment completion among TB patients.

â–ª Coordinate & work with the districts in the skilling of Community Health Extension Workers (CHEWs) in the prioritized district(s).

â–ª Participate in the provision of integrated acute and chronic care services namely Malaria, MCH, HIV, TB & NCD screening services at facility and Community level.

â–ª Develop customized concepts, costed plans, and activity reports as per stipulated timelines.

â–ª Participate in routine community data collection, data analysis, performance review, and data use to inform quality improvement initiatives for community services and Psychosocial Support.

â–ª Work with Community Health Workers (Expert peers, YAPs, GANC, Cough monitors/CLFs, VHTs) to ensure provision of Psychosocial support for Adults, CALHIV, PMTCT and TB services.

â–ª Work with Districts and health facilities to accelerate implementation of Malaria intervention activities.

â–ª Work with Districts and community structures to improve access and utilization of MCH, Malaria services.

â–ª Participate in implementation of Global health security activities in the districts.

â–ª Documentation of promising practices & success stories in provision of HIV/TB, GHS, Malaria and MCH services.

â–ª Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:

▪ Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, Community Psychology or Community Health, Public Health, or Nursing.

â–ª Possession of a postgraduate degree in Public Health, Sociology, Project Management or Community Health would be an added advantage.

▪ At least three years’ experience in recent work in HIV/TB and Malaria and MNCH donor program at district and community level.

â–ª Excellent communication skills and ability to work 100% time in the region since the position is field based.
