Palmpay is a Pan-African fintech company currently operating in Tanzania, Ghana, Nigeria and expanding to other markets in Uganda. We are reinventing the payments experience by making it easy and reliable for everyone to transfer money, pay bills and shop online. We are seeking for a proactive and results-driven Credit Officer will be responsible in evaluating creditworthiness, managing loan applications and ensuring compliance with lending policies in financial institutions. Will play a vital role in the lending process, balancing the need for financial stability with the facilitation of credit access for clients.

Key Responsibilities

Credit Evaluation: Assess the creditworthiness of individuals and businesses by reviewing financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant documents. Also, analyze income, assets, liabilities and repayment capacity to make informed decisions.

Loan Application Management: Processing loan applications, preparing loan proposals, and conducting interviews with applicants to verify information and explain loan terms.

Risk Assessment: Conducting thorough risk assessments is crucial and evaluate potential risks associated with lending and make recommendations for approval or rejection of credit applications based on established criteria.

Compliance and Policy Implementation: Ensure that all lending activities comply with relevant laws and regulations, as well as the internal credit policies of the financial institution.

Portfolio Management: Monitoring existing loans and credit accounts, take appropriate actions to prevent or recover delinquencies, defaults, or losses and maintain accurate records of credit activities.

Negotiation: Negotiate terms and conditions with clients, including interest rates, fees and repayment schedules, to facilitate loan agreements.

Reporting: Prepare detailed credit reports and documentation, providing insights and recommendations on credit policies to management.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field is typically required.

3-5 years of proven experience of similar role in banking or fintech industry.

Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities are essential for evaluating financial data and assessing credit risk.

Communication Skills: Excellent communication and negotiation skills are necessary for interacting with clients and explaining complex financial concepts.

Attention to Detail: Must be meticulous in reviewing applications and financial documents to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Must be Ugandan.
