The Company
Tiko is an African nonprofit committed to strengthening the potential and resilience of adolescent girls across Africa. We address the “Triple Threat” of unintended pregnancy, HIV infection, and sexual and gender-based violence by building local health ecosystems that provide stigma-free, no-cost, quality-assured services.
Our model brings together key local actors: community-based organizations (CBO) with peer mobilisers who act as health companions to girls; public and private health clinics that deliver care; and retail partners that redeem Tiko Miles -our behaviour-change incentive programme that rewards service uptake and feedback.
We invest in partners by strengthening CBO capacity, training frontline workers and providers, supporting clinic quality improvement, and compensating partners based on performance. Our technology platform connects all actors by enabling referrals, verifying service delivery, facilitating payments, and generating real-time data.
Tiko operates in seven countries: Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Burkina Faso, South Africa, Zambia, and Nigeria, with additional offices in Portugal, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. For a clear overview of our work, we recommend watching this short video.
The Job
We are seeking an experienced Digital Communications Manager to lead Tiko’s digital presence, visibility and engagement through a digital-first content strategy that directly supports fundraising and organisational goals. This role is pivotal in shaping how Tiko tells its story online, strengthening donor awareness and engagement, and ensuring a high-quality digital experience across all channels.
You will oversee Tiko’s content strategy and manage key digital platforms, including social media, e-newsletters, online events and the website. Working closely with internal teams, you will translate impact into compelling digital storytelling, drive audience growth, and ensure consistency of messaging across channels. This role requires a strong balance of strategic thinking, hands-on content production, web management and performance analysis to grow awareness of Tiko’s mission and impact for girls across Africa.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support and contribute to Tiko’s corporate communications strategy, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and fundraising objectives.
- Lead global digital marketing strategies, with a strong focus on fundraising, donor acquisition and engagement through digital channels.
- Drive audience growth and engagement, with particular focus on strengthening Tiko’s professional authority on LinkedIn.
- Manage and optimise Tiko’s website, ensuring strong performance, usability and user experience across devices.
- Oversee Tiko’s overall digital presence, producing high-quality multimedia content such as short videos, reels, graphics and carousels to maximise reach and engagement.
- Guide and evaluate digital campaigns using Google Analytics and advanced SEO techniques, grounded in a strong understanding of Google’s core algorithm and search behaviour.
- Lead the commissioning of digital storytelling assets, including short films and campaign videos, working with external suppliers where needed.
- Drive content innovation through creative thinking and strong conceptual development.
- Act as a key digital expert within the communications team, producing high-quality editorial content and responding proactively to evolving digital trends.
About You
You are a high-impact Digital Communications Manager who combines strategic foresight with creative, hands-on execution. You are skilled at translating organisational impact into compelling, donor-facing digital content that delivers measurable results. You think digital-first, understand how to grow and engage audiences, and enjoy owning the full lifecycle of digital content, from concept to delivery and optimisation. You are confident collaborating across teams and influencing stakeholders to ensure consistent messaging and strong brand positioning. Analytical by nature and curious about emerging trends, you bring energy, rigour and creativity to strengthening Tiko’s digital presence and investment case for girls’ health and wellbeing.
Requirements

- Strong web management experience, including advanced use of WordPress, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Search Console.
- Working knowledge of web fundamentals such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and the ability to apply UX and UI principles to digital marketing.
- Experience managing corporate social media and email platforms such as LinkedIn, Bluesky and Mailchimp, including associated risk management considerations.
- Excellent editorial writing, editing and storytelling skills across multiple digital formats, with a focus on donor and partner engagement.
- Strong capability in performance tracking and audience analysis, adapting content and strategy based on user behaviour and results.
- High proficiency in design and multimedia tools, including Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe XD, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro) and rapid design platforms such as Canva.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to balance clarity, assertiveness and diplomacy.
- Strong analytical mindset and a keen interest in digital trends and the future of digital communications technologies.
