Job Purpose:
The Grants and Sustainability Specialist is responsible for securing external funding to support the department's initiatives, particularly those aimed at promoting financial inclusion for the informal sector. This role ensures the sustainability of these initiatives beyond their initial project lifecycles, thereby contributing to the increased coverage goals of the NSSF.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.
- Relevant professional credentials and membership, where applicable
Work Experience:
- Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience—in grant writing, management, and sustainability planning—with at least three (3) years at a management level.
- Experience working with international organizations, NGOs, or in a financial inclusion role.

- Identify potential funding sources, including international organizations, NGOs, and government agencies.
- Prepare and submit grant proposals, ensuring alignment with the department's strategic objectives.
- Manage the grant application process, including reviewing submissions, conducting cost analyses, and negotiating terms with funding partners.
- Monitor and report on grant-funded projects to ensure compliance with grant terms and conditions.
- Develop and implement strategies to ensure the long-term sustainability of department initiatives.
- Work closely with project managers to integrate sustainability plans into project designs from the outset.
- Conduct regular evaluations of project sustainability and make recommendations for improvements.
- Prepare and manage budgets for grant-funded projects, ensuring funds are allocated and spent according to donor requirements.
- Develop financial reports and documentation for funders and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial tracking and reporting of grant expenditures.
- Build and maintain relationships with funding agencies, donors, and other stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the department and external funding bodies.
- Represent the department at meetings, conferences, and other events to promote funding opportunities.
- Provide training and support to department staff on grant writing, management, and sustainability practices.
- Develop internal processes and tools to improve the department's capacity to secure and manage grants effectively.
