Job Description

Talent Acquisition

  • Assist in the recruitment process, including job postings, candidate screening, scheduling interviews, and coordinating selection activities.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and develop effective recruitment strategies.

Employee Onboarding

  • Facilitate the onboarding process for new employees, ensuring a smooth transition into the organization.
  • Conduct orientation sessions and provide necessary training on company policies, procedures, and benefits.

Performance Management

  • Support the implementation of performance appraisal systems and assist in the administration of performance evaluations.
  • Support managers to develop performance improvement plans and employee development initiatives.

Training and Development:

  • Identify training needs and assist in the development and implementation of training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
  • Coordinate and facilitate training sessions, workshops, team building and professional development opportunities.

Leave administration

  • Provide guidance to employees and managers on leave entitlements, procedures, and any legal requirements.
  • Prepare reports on leave usage, trends, and costs for management.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Assist in the administration of compensation and benefits programs, ensuring competitiveness and compliance with regulations.
  • Support the communication of benefits information to employees and address related inquiries.
  • Administration of payroll including accurate data input and the correct codes are charged for personnel costs.

Collaboration with HR Team

  • Work closely with the HR team to ensure alignment of HR strategies with organizational goals.
  • Support the Senior Human Resources Officer in various HR projects and initiatives.

Decision Making/ Job Influence

  • Operational decisions
  • Influencing decisions related to workforce planning, employee engagement initiatives, and HR strategies that support organizational objectives.

Working Conditions

  • The role is primarily office-based at the East African Development Bank headquarters, providing a professional and collaborative work environment.
  • Flexibility may be required to accommodate meetings, training sessions, and project deadlines, which could occasionally extend beyond regular hours.

Job Competencies (Knowledge, Experience and Attributes / Skills).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field.

Professional Qualifications / Membership to professional bodies

  • Professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, CIPD) is an added advantage.

Previous relevant work experience required

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a corporate or financial services environment.
  • Experience in recruitment, employee relations, and training and development is preferred.
