Position Summary
It is the responsibility of the Human Resources Coordinator to fulfill the human resources initiatives and related administrative roles to promote an organizational culture that aligns with the vision, mission and values of the organization.
It is the duty of the Human Resources Coordinator to hold to the mission, vision, and core values of the organization. The Human Resources Coordinator must be willing to sign the organization's Statement of Faith. The Human Resources Coordinator reports directly to the Operations Director in Uganda and is responsible for upholding the policies as set forth by the Board of Directors in the United States. The responsibilities of the Human Resources Coordinator, but are not limited to the duties defined in this responsibility description.

Specific Responsibilities:
Hiring, Recruitment and Retention
• Coordinate with Operations Director to determine staffing needs and plans to share with Country Director.
• Ensure all positions have updated and current job descriptions, and that employees understand the expectations for their role on the organization team.
• Ensure open positions are advertised and recruited for in the most effective manner to attract suitable candidates.
• Oversee a fair and objective recruitment process internally and externally as appropriate in coordination with Operations Director.
• Ensure all employee contracts align with legal and the organization's requirements as advised by legal counsel.
• Routinely scan job market trends to ensure competitiveness and relativeness in the non- profit job market.
• Constantly seek strategies to improve staff health and overall productivity and fulfillment to aid in the retention and engagement of employees.
• In coordination with Operations Director and Chief Operating Officer (COO), develop and implement a First Day Experience to integrate new employees into the organization family and culture.
Learning, Development and Employee Performance
• Coordinate with Operations Director to facilitate a plan within approved budget for staff development and leadership growth opportunities.
• Coordinate with Operations Director to identify and recommend initiatives within approved budget to motivate and inspire staff to be successful in their role.
• Ensure the successful implementation of employee contribution conversations and evaluation tools in coordination with Operations Director and COO.
Payroll and Benefits Management
• Ensure payroll and benefits are administered efficiently, accurately and within the requirements of each contract, the organization Children budget, policies and legal requirements in coordination with the Finance Manager.
• Medical Insurance Administration: Coordinate with the Operations Director and Country Director to manage employee medical benefit plans, ensuring timely enrollment, renewals, and claims processing in alignment with organizational policies and budget.
• Workers' Compensation: Coordinate workers' compensation processes, including reporting incidents, facilitating claims, and coordinating with the Operations Director, CD, COO and CEO to address any escalations or legal compliance requirements.
HR Policies and Procedures
• Ensure all HR policies and manuals are up to date and represent best practices as advised by legal counsel, and share any concerns with Operations Director and COO in a timely manner.
• Ensure all employees are informed and trained in regards to the organization HR Manual and policies, compliance with labor laws and are made aware of any updates in a timely manner.
• Support the Country Director and Operations Director to handle staff discipline and grievance issues, and inform the CEO and COO as outlined in the Communication Policy.
• Ensure safety training and policies are implemented under the guidance of the Operations Director.
HR Administration and Operations Assistance
• Maintain all HR records and ensure they are kept up to date and in accordance with confidentiality requirements.
• Ensure clear, timely and efficient dissemination of information relevant to all staff, including memos, meetings and the annual staff calendar.
• Maintain staff suggestion box and ensure suggestions are addressed accordingly after consulting with the Operations Director and Country Director.

Qualifications
• Bachelors degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Commerce or related field
Details of experience
• Five or more years of experience in a Human Resources function, preferably working directly with a Christ-centered, child-focused NGO
