Job Purpose
To manage the system for the grant of titles and rights to creators and owners of copyright and related rights.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
-
- Planning, developing and implementing strategies and programmes for the copyright and related right
- Administering laws and policies related to Copyright and Related Rights and be responsible for registration of Copyright Work
- Providing technical advice in the updating of Laws and policies on Copyright and Related Right
- Managing strategic relationships with clients, Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs), regional and international partners.
- Providing technical support supervision and guidance to Collective Management Organizations (CMO).
- Managing the registration and register of copyrights, neighboring rights, CMOs, licenses and assignments.
- Developing budgets and work plans and coordinating the for operations the
- Builds up a network of treaty relationships for the protection of the works of authors and other creators abroa
- Providing technical support to rights holders in the setup and operationalization of well-functioning collective management societies
- Providing responses to questions and queries from interested persons on copyright matters;
- Holding hearings and functioning as a tribunal head as prescribed under the la
- Managing the performance and professional development of staff.
Person Specifications
Qualifications
-
- An Honors’ degree in Law, Social Sciences or related discipline.
- A Masters in management, law and/or with ICSA other related discipline
Work Experience
At least nine (9) years working experience in a reputable public or private organization, three (3) of which should have been at a Principal/Supervisory level.
Key Competences
-
- Knowledge of relevant legislation relating to registration duties.
- Good leadership, interpersonal, analytical, mentoring and communication skills.
- Ability to liaise and network with other Government Institutions.
- Ability to effectively motivate and lead others/Teamwork skills
