To support the internal audit team in conducting safety and compliance audits, identifying potential risks, and contributing to the improvement of health, safety, and regulatory frameworks across UEDCL operations.
Impact
The role supports the enhancement of UEDCL’s safety culture by promoting compliance with internal policies and external regulations. It also strengthens audit readiness and operational integrity in safety practices.
Key Result Areas (KRAs)
- Assist in conducting safety and compliance audits across various departments and sites.
- Gather and organize data and documentation required for audit planning and execution.
- Help in compiling risk assessment reports under supervision.
- Document findings related to safety hazards and non-compliance.
- Assist in reviewing existing safety and compliance policies for alignment with national and international standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001).
- Support documentation updates and version control.
- Draft preliminary reports based on audit findings and follow-up actions.
- Track implementation status of previous audit recommendations.
- Participate in organizing safety and compliance training sessions.
- Assist in preparing awareness materials, posters, and presentations.
- Support internal teams in gathering facts and documentation during incident investigations.
- Record key lessons learned and follow-up recommendations.
Expected Outputs
- Contributed to the preparation of safety and compliance audit reports
- Documented risk issues and proposed remedial actions
- Assisted in compliance reviews of internal safety policies
- Supported safety awareness activities and documentation
- Maintained clear records of audit data, findings, and follow-ups
- Demonstrated development in safety audit principles and reporting
Person Specifications
Academic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Risk Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Commerce, Statistics or related field.
- Operation Regulation of High Voltage Systems (ORHVS) training or related safety courses is an added advantage.
- Graduated within the last three (3) years
Experience
- No formal work experience required
Competencies
- Basic understanding of workplace safety principles and audit methodologies
- Attention to detail and ability to observe safety practices in operational settings
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Integrity, reliability, and willingness to learn from hands-on experience
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong ethical grounding and commitment to promoting a safe work environment
