Job Summary
The Marketing Director will drive business development through strategic market planning, contract risk management, and stakeholder engagement, while ensuring legal and regulatory compliance. The role involves identifying growth opportunities, leading contract negotiations, representing the company at industry events, and integrating legal oversight into marketing operations to support COSL Uganda’s strategic objectives in the oil and gas sector.

Responsibilities

  • Marketing Planning: Conduct in-depth research on local market dynamics, competitive and industry trends; formulate market strategies and annual marketing plans aligned with company goals. Collaborate with COSL headquarters to ensure global strategies are effectively implemented and adjusted locally.
  • Brand Promotion and Management: Oversee the positioning, promotion, and maintenance of the company’s brand in the local market; enhance brand image and value through targeted strategies, including market development and marketing activities.
  • Market Analysis and Customer Management: Organize market research, analyze data and customer needs, and provide decision-making insights. Monitor market trends and competitor activities to adjust strategies and maintain competitive advantages. Develop and maintain relationships with major clients.
  • Marketing Network Development: Build and manage local marketing channels, integrating online and offline platforms for operational efficiency. Establish strong partnerships with agents and collaborators.
  • Service/Product Marketing: Develop strategies for promoting the company’s geophysical exploration, drilling, oilfield technology, shipping, and integrated services/products.
  • Team Management and Collaboration: Lead the marketing team, fostering professional growth. Collaborate cross-departmentally to ensure alignment with company-wide operations.
  • Budget Management and Performance Evaluation: Prepare and manage the marketing budget, ensuring resource efficiency. Evaluate campaign effectiveness and report on performance metrics.
  • Business Risk Control: Define operational models for overseas projects, review business contracts, and implement risk mitigation measures.

Relevant Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Marketing, Business Management, Petroleum Engineering, or related fields.
  2. Minimum 3 years of oil industry marketing experience, with 10+ years of total work experience. Overseas market experience preferred.
  3. Deep familiarity with Uganda’s oil sector, market dynamics, and competition; strong analytical, strategic, and execution skills; innovative mindset and market insight.
  4. Proven leadership, communication, and cross-cultural teamwork abilities; alignment with industry culture.
  5. Fluency in English and local languages; excellent written and verbal communication.
  6. Resilience under pressure, adaptability to market changes, and problem-solving aptitude
